Trench Coat Love

Trench Coat Viktor & Rolf, Purple Wrap Dress Diane Von Furstenberg, Glitter Peep-Toe Wedges Jimmy Choo, Peacock Earrings and Love Ring Forever 21, Sunglasses DG
I can’t believe how quickly the week is flying by! This outfit post is from last week, but now that the sun is out I feel like I can’t just post something from this week without giving this look the attention it deserves.
I have always steered clear of any coat that was not black because I have always been the type to want everything to match. It seemed almost unreasonable to own anything that didn’t fit my black and white scheme. Since purchasing this trench coat my mind has changed completely! You could almost say it was love at first sight! (It even has heart details!)
I love that this trench coat has transitioned seamlessly into my wardrobe. It is the perfect coat to wear over my spring dresses like this DVF purple wrap dress. I love the color, shape, and feel of the material. This is another one of my purchases from Crossroads Trading Co. and I am never disappointed with the items I walk out with. I have been keeping with my resolution of being more sustainable with my shopping habits and aside from the jewelry, my outfit is composed of gently used goods. (Even the Jimmy Choos which I snagged on eBay!) The coat is something I found at Goodwill, so at this point I feel like a lucky shopper. I am always able to find amazing things for a good price. That is also a negative because I end up having an overflow of clothes spilling out of my closet and the hubs says nothing unless it gets in his way. (I am so lucky he understands, but he is always questioning why I keep shopping!)
I am looking forward to wearing more cute dresses (and fun shoes) for Spring. I am also slowly cleaning out my closet so make sure to check out my Poshmark account @ pandycakes to shop clothes that you may or may not have seen on the blog.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of the week. (It is almost over!!)
xo,

First Day at Work

Geometric Print Trumpet Dress Diane Von Furstenberg (here) | Black Cardigan Forever 21 | Tights Chinese Laundry | Ulltra Nude Heels Steve Madden My outfit for Monday for my first day of work!
Despite working at the same office for about 3 years, Monday was my first day in my new permanent position. I was relocated to another cubicle far away from the front desk which I was initially hired to assist almost 3 years ago. The change has been a little surreal and I am still adjusting to my new space, but it is a lot nicer in comparison to the space I had before. I especially enjoy that I have natural sunlight beaming in throughout the day. (I will have to share photos of my new space on Instagram because I had more freedom to decorate the space and make it my own with nicer furniture.)
I had my welcome party in the morning and “met” my coworkers, so I wanted to dress up. I opted to wear a dress that I purchased using the Poshmark app. This has been my first (and so far only) purchase using that app and I am addicted to it. I enjoy browsing other girl’s listings and listing items I no longer love as much as I used to. I was lucky to find this DVF dress. It has a fun print and a feminine shape, so it was love at first sight!  I would have worn this without the tights and the cardigan had it not been so windy. I could see myself wearing this dress again so hopefully you don’t get too bored of it when I wear it over and over again.
Overall, my first day was not too bad. I know I have a lot to learn and I am ready for the challenges that lie ahead. I will be best equipped with a dress and heels, so expect more posts like this with the changing weather minus the tights. =D

Another Job Interview

Black Suit and Blue Top Calvin Klein | Nude Ulltra Pumps Steve Madden | Camera Bag THEIT | Blue Scarf Coach |  Ring  Forever 21 | Gold Chain Necklace St. John 2nd round of interviews!  I wore my classic Calvin Klein suit again on Tuesday but changed up the top and accessories. (Previous look here.) For an extra pop of color I added the blue scarf to my purse. I did very well in the interview and felt less nervous about it. I should be hearing back regarding the position soon (or if I need to go in for yet another interview).
My favorite part of this outfit is my St. John necklace that I found at the Alameda Antique Fair for only $3. What a steal! I doubt the man selling this knew exactly what kind of treasure he had. I bought this because it looked like a cool chain and the clasp makes me think it is meant to be worn as a belt. We will see if that works with my trousers with belt loops. In the meantime, it makes for a pretty chic and edgy necklace.
This post is a little late in part because I was busy preparing for my cake decorating class’s final. If you follow me on Instagram (@willbakeforshoes)you can see what I’ve been up to. My cake turned out beautifully and I will also try to do a post of it and Instagram recap of all the new decorating tricks I have learned. (I can make flowers out of gum paste now and use fondant!)
I won’t be taking another class for a while, but I will definitely be practicing what I have learned so make sure to follow me on Bloglovin to see more of my cake decorating.
Check out my Instagram later tonight as I cover the Macy’s LOOKMAZING event in SF. Maybe I’ll see some of you fellow bloggers and fashionistas there!Brandy| BLOGLOVIN | FACEBOOK |  INSTAGRAM |TUMBLR | TWITTER |

Hello Spring!

Floral Dress Kirna Zabate for Target | Lovebirds Belt H&M, Rose Earrings Forever 21 | Tights Chinese Laundry | Ulltra Black Pumps Steve MaddenSpring is here! Time to bust out the floral prints!
I dressed up despite it raining because we had a recognition lunch at work at Five, a bistro located at the Shattuck Plaza Hotel. I shared some photos on Instagram. The food was amazing, and it was fun to have an occasion to dress up for.
I love the print and shape of this dress! I found it at a Goodwill in Salinas with all the tags attached for 9.99. I love how it is sheer but still covers up a lot. Very feminine and retro. I should have worn my hair in a bun for a classic secretary look! (Next time!) As you can see from my recent posts I am a fan of Designer Collaborations with Target. I typically hold out and buy items on sale, on eBay, or until I find them in thrift shops. Their dresses are usually too cute to pass up but I sometimes cannot bring myself to pay full price!
I am also fond of the belt and added it to look like 2 birds flying among the flowers in my dress. My earrings matched the print of the dress too! It is my first time wearing them since purchasing them a year ago. Sometimes you just have to hold out until you find a perfect match.
I can see myself wearing this dress again soon. I have some fun purple petal heels I plan on wearing with this minus the tights. It is perfect for Spring and I am looking forward to the warmer weather and wearing my dresses more often!

I’ve Got the Blues

Blue Trench and Studded Belt Forever 21, Purple and Navy Print Dress Richard Chai for Target, Patterned Tights Chinese Laundry, Ulltra Blue Suede Pumps Steve Madden, Scarf Marc Jacobs

I am starting to let pops of color take over my typical dark wardrobe. I almost wore my black pumps, but I am glad I opted to wear the blue ones. Even if it is not an exact match, wearing different shades of blue is not so bad, right? This might have been what jazz singers were talking about in their songs. (Or sadness, but I prefer to think it was about owning blue clothes.)
I’ve learned that wearing all black is not so blah as long as there are different textures. I had fun pairing this printed dress with my patterned tights. I’ve become a little obsessed with patterned tights lately and I am conflicted since I cannot wait for Spring/ Summer weather so I can bare my legs for a much needed tan. until then, I will be layering and trying to wear as many of my patterned/textured tights as I can!

Job Interview

Outfit 1:  Black Blazer and Pant Suit  Calvin Klein | Green Wrap Top Diane Von Furstenberg | Black Patent Pumps Christian Louboutin | Silver Boyfriend Watch Marc by Marc Jascobs

Outfit 2: Black Blazer Calvin Klein, Green Leopard Print Wrap Dress Diane Von Furstenberg, Silver Boyfriend Watch Marc by Marc Jascobs, Panda Necklace Betsey Johnson, Black Ulltra Pumps Steve MaddenTwo interviews in one week with the same blazer worn two different ways!
I was very nervous and excited for my first interview for a career position since graduating Berkeley. I wanted to look professional and decided to wear a suit that had belonged to my mom. Her closet is full of suits and I opted to take this one and had it altered to fit my shorter frame. I love the pleats in the blazer: It makes this suit look very feminine. For some reason I stuck to wearing black and green for both interviews and it just kind of happened. I should say it is because of St. Patrick’s Day, but I had been wanting to wear the top since purchasing it in December and the wrap dress is one of my favorites because of the print (and color.)
The first interview went okay. I made it to the second round as a finalist, but overall I felt I could have elaborated on the answers I had given. I could have done a better job talking about myself, but it felt very weird, almost like bragging. Then I was notified on Wednesday that I would have another interview on Friday for another position I applied for. I opted for something a little more whimsical like the print of this wrap dress and the Betsey Johnson panda charm necklace. I felt super confident in this dress and the light amount of red lip stain on my lips gave me an edgier look. I felt I took the second interview head-on and dominated! I might be facing a dilemma later if I am chosen for both positions after the second round of interviews, but I would be pretty excited since I could have my pick! I am very optimistic since I improved my interviewing skills in one session and I am looking forward the new opportunities both positions would entail.
Hope you all had a great week (less nerve-wrecking than mine) and thanks for reading!
