I was invited by Boutiika to a trunk show they were cohosting Thursday night with the Hangr16 Boutique for the Spring 2013 collection launch of designer B:Scott from NBC’s show FashionStar.
I posted a couple of photos last night during the event on Instagram using my new iPhone camera case! It was a great conversation starter and I took a bunch of photos of the great merchandise the store offers. Don’t forget to check out my account and follow @willbakeforshoes for more photos.

I was really excited to have met the people behind Boutiika as well as the designer of the hour. He was a very down-to-earth guy and it was surreal to me to be meeting the creator behind the clothing. I initially thought I wanted to be a designer while I was studying for my undergrad, but I never got around to learning how to use a sewing machine. I am so impressed when people can design a full collection every season because it is a lot easier said than done! (I know from failed attempts after all.) It is also not every day that I meet a designer, which added to the magic of it all.

The B:Scott collection is perfect for living in San Francisco, which is one of the influences to Brandon’s 2013 Spring collection. There were plenty of basics with the intent for layering and asymmetrical details in the zippers. Most of the items had features to cover one’s mouth or ears which is meant to be practical when biking in the city. The ease of his clothing really resonates with the street style in San Francisco.

I was lucky enough to meet Brandon’s sister who also happens to be the designer of her own women’s clothing line and can be found at sarahscottdesign.com. As seen in the photo above, she designed her feminine varsity jacket and the black messenger bag she is carrying. I am in love with her jacket and might be buying it in a different color at the beginning of next month. She shared photos from her collection and I loved being able to browse through it. She is my latest designer crush now with her use of leopard print, leather, and spin on classic jackets. (I am also really tempted to buy that bag too!)

Both siblings are on a cross country tour together so check out their site to see if they are making a stop at a boutique in a city near you!
I enjoyed the event and hope you enjoyed my coverage of it. The Hangr16 boutique has been voted as a top location for Menswear in San Francisco, so I am excited to use Boutiika to discover more boutiques in the area that I would not normally know of.  I plan on making a trip to SF to shop just using the Boutiika site as my guide, so stay tuned for that post in the near future.

Thanks for reading and Happy Friday!

Poshmark Party

As I mentioned yesterday in my last blog post, I was invited to meet up event hosted by Poshmark in SF. There was free wine and fashion talk, how could I not go?!
But first you may ask, what is Poshmark? Poshmark is an app that allows to take photos of items in your closet that you would like to sell and allows for you to shop other women’s closets! Sort of like Instagram meets eBay, but better! Currently the app is only available on Apple devices, but an Android version is in the works.
I posted a lot of photos on Instagram, but here are a few photos from the event. All 3 of these photos are courtesy of the Poshmark Facebook Page.

The meet up was in SF located at the W Hotel of which I am no stranger. (See post on magazine issue release party here!)Image from Poshmark Facebook Page

Everyone from the Poshmark crew were so nice! It was fun meeting them and seeing how passionate they were about their company! The same is true with their community members. Above I am photographed with Julie and below I am with Tracy and Beth. Image from Poshmark Facebook PageI only took iPhone photos of the event because it can be very difficult to carry your own coat/bag, pass out business cards, drink wine, and use a DSLR camera. Plus this allowed for me to follow other people’s closets right away. I am so used to attending events with someone that I have come to rely on photos being taken by someone else while I network. It was interesting going solo and learning how to mingle. I found it to be really easy, but it might have been because of the wine or because people there were really nice and positive.
I am actually pretty inspired by the event and plan to get a bulk of the clothes I have in a pile to sell listed on my Poshmark account. I have been saying that for awhile, but I want to start building credit so I can shop other people’s closets guilt-free.
By the next meet up event I am hoping to have sold a few items, but we’ll see! Follow me on Poshmark @willbakeforshoe if you have an account so you can stay updated with items I sell and so I can check out your closet too!

Shop It Like It’s Hot

I spent my Wednesday night at an exclusive shopping event sponsored by Chictopia in partnership with Crossroads Trading Co., American Apparel and other San Francisco local boutiques.
The event was held at the 111 Minna Gallery and I was excited to take a look at the items Crossroads would be debuting for spring.  Guest bloggers Kathleen from Inspirafashion and Jessica from Happa Time were also there providing style advice to the first 50 guests to attend.  I met Kathleen at the last Crossroads Shopping event and she is such a sweety. She looked great and I am sorry to not have a photo of her, but I am sure she will post her outfit on her blog. I met Jessica for the first time and she seems to be a real nice person too.
Slides of photos from Chictopia’s site next to DJ: Tender Buttons The event was packed with people shopping and networking.Lights setting the artsy mood for the event.Art that had been added to the gallery earlier this week.Scouring through the Crossroads racks for some great deals and finds.

The outfit and the shoes-If you want to leave an impression, wear fabulous shoes.

Black Blazer and Jeans 7 For All Mankind | Top Diane Von Furstenberg | Bracelets and Ring Forever 21 |  Silver Glitter Baxen Wedges Jimmy Choo | Black Quilted Bossi Camera Bag THEITAs you can see from my big bag, I found more than I expected.  I am glad I sold some clothes last week and came in with some trade for the event. I feel I am doing a great job with my finances this month and staying sustainable by reselling clothes I don’t wear and buying other people’s unworn treasures.
I met a lot of people and overall had a great experience. It’s refreshing to meet other bloggers who are making it in the fashion world doing what they love. I am loving these types of events where I meet people that are passionate about clothes, their jobs, or their interests. A big thank you to Crossroads for the invite and to Chictopia for hosting this wonderful event!

Holiday Trunk Show

Navy Blouse Diane Von Furstenberg, Pants, Beanie, Rings, and Peacock Necklace Forever 21, Peacock Blue Satin Flats Fairy Tales Come True

I feel like I’ve overloaded you with photos, but there were so many to choose, it was hard to narrow to just these!
I was invited to a Holiday Trunk Show showcasing handcrafted items from Fox Parlor. The Fox Parlor is located in Sierra City, California, and you can see some of their items on their Facebook page here. A lot of the items were very cute and had a whimsical feel to them. There were many unique gift options, and I was able to find a few. It took a lot of willpower to not buy a bunch of things just because they were so cute!
For the event, I dressed in items that would give a sort of indie/bohemian look. I wore my favorite peacock feather flats and a matching necklace. I felt those pieces gave off the impression that I am a crafty person, despite that not being 100% true.
I was really happy to be joined by my friend Allison and, of course, Armando. We were able to shop for some Christmas gifts, eat sweets, drink champagne, and take photos with handmade props at a booth Elise of WT Fab! designed. I admire her creativity here, and want to use this idea possibly for an event next year!
I had a great time hanging out, meeting the owner of the Fox Parlor, and spending time with Elise! She is such a sweet, genuine person and I am very lucky to have met someone as nice as her. I have found it very refreshing to have met like-minded people who enjoy blogging about fashion and other topics that inspire them. I am sure she will be writing a post about the event as well, so make sure to stop by her blog as well!

Holiday Heroes

Black Princess Coat and Black Pumps Steve Madden | Teal and Black Print Dress Calvin Klein | Earrings and Clutch Forever 21 | Panda Necklace Betsey Johnson

Last night Armando and I were given the opportunity to attend the Holiday Heroes Children Fundraiser hosted by the Wender Weis Foundation for Children.
A coworker of mine had originally received the tickets but was not feeling well and I was invited at the last minute. I dressed with going only to work in mind, but I had Armando bring me my pumps and clutch at the end of the day for a night out in SF.
The event was held at AT&T Park and the fundraiser benefits the Junior Giants Baseball Program, 49ers Foundation, Children of Shelters, Raphael House and the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. Their mission is to provide encouragement to under-served kids to impact their future in a positive way. Funds were made by purchasing tickets, participating in the silent auction, and SF Giants Christmas Tree Raffle.
There was plenty of food and drink was provided and many fun activities for the kids that attended such as cookie decorating, stuffed animal stuffing, and face painting. There was a video game center and all of theBay Area Team Mascots! I felt like a kid myself and got my own stuffed monkey, that Armando claimed for himself by the end of the night I took photos with Sharkie the San Jose Sharks mascot as well as Jeremey Affeldt.
We even participated in the silent auction and won a Raider’s Football signed by the entire 2012 team. This will make a great Christmas gift for my dad and we both felt great that our purchase will be going straight to the charities the event was sponsoring. I’d love to attend more benefits like this because not only was it fun, it was also for a great cause.

BayFashion Magazine Issue Release Party

Pink Blazer, Black Leggings, Black Tiered Tulle Skirt, All Accessories Forever 21 | Black Leather Knee-High Boots Madden Girl | Silver Boyfriend Watch Marc by Marc Jacobs

Last night I was lucky enough to join Elise of WTFab! at the W Hotel for the BayFashion Issue Release Party through her extended invitation from Melange. I had the chance to go by being one of the first five to respond to her post along with my guest. I was joined by Vivian on this adventure in San Francisco.
It was pouring outside, so I needed to wear some boots to avoid ruining any of my pretty heels. I did not know what to expect, so I decided to wear my tutu and pink blazer with a statement necklace to dress up the casual look my boots gave me. I felt like I was dressed appropriately when I arrived, and I fit with what Vivian was wearing too! People’s outfits varied, some wore jeans and tennis shoes, others wore cocktail dresses, and one man was dressed in a kilt. (He was at our booth later and he was awesome!)
Our VIP booth had complimentary bottle service from Melange, and this fashion company was a special guest for the release party. I was surrounded by many fashionable, fabulous people and was pretty excited about the magazine as well. I met and networked with a lot of people in the fashion world, those that worked for Melange, and those connected with the magazine.
I was very glad to have met fellow blogger Elise who was dressed in a chic black dress and high bun. She was very sweet and offered me a lot of insight when it came to blogging, and the use of other social media tools. My last 2 photos I published on Instagram, and while I had not been updating it or doing anything with it, I was inspired by Elise to use it. We’ll see how long I can last on there.
I am very thankful for the opportunities I have had so far since starting this blog. While sipping champagne I felt like I was no longer looking into a window of the person I dreamed of being in the fashion world, but I was finally inside playing out the rest of the story with the possibility of future fashion related events for me to go to!
But enough about me. Hope you had a fabulous weekend and of course I must ask, what would you wear to a magazine launch party? (Also, what if it was raining?) Leave your response or link to an outfit below so I may see.
