Brunch with Alyssa Nicole

The best way to spend a Saturday in the Bay Area is to enjoy brunch with your girlfriends. It is made even better when there is a fashion show getting you excited for Spring. I attended the launch of Alyssa Nicole’s demi-couture clothing line “White Noise” in February and fell in love with the whimsical and romantic designs in white.

Alyssa Casares is a young designer who launched Alyssa Nicole with her mother, Sonia Casares, in 2010. This demi-couture collection was inspired by the concept of white noise. The pieces reflected a romantic and crisp look with a twist of dark whimsy. I adored the peplum two-piece suit and especially adored the the trumpet flared dress in the same sparkly fabric. My blogger friends and I sipped mimosas as we say 16 looks displayed in total.

I loved the wedding gown that came at the end of the fashion show and felt it had a great silhouette and detail. I’ve been watching a lot of Say Yes to the Dress on Netflix and, despite not even being close to getting married, I definitely can’t help but think it really compares to the gowns I’ve seen on the show and can see some of the other gowns/dresses being great alternatives for a more modern, contemporary bride. With all the various cuts and flowy nature of the looks, I feel very inspired to wear all white despite the recent showers overtaking the Bay Area.
I love to support local designers and Alyssa Nicole is designed and handcrafted in America. To shop the collection you can the full collection here.

Live from SF! Urban Glam Posh Party

Earlier this week, I attended Poshmark’s first live party of 2014 in SF. This party was meant to kick-off their next cross-country tour and was held at Chambers.

Not only was Poshmark kicking off a tour, but it is also celebrating a major win this week by being one of the first e-commerce sites to work with USPS to negotiate better flat rate shipping for users. Before this announcement, shipping for any order less than $25 would be $6.99, while orders over $25 would be only $4.99. Now all orders ship for $4.99 as long as it is 4lbs or less. This news and the latest app update, gave everyone even more reason to celebrate.

I hung out with my amazing blogger friends (Chelsea Pearl and Jessica Valdez) and met some new people. I was really happy to meet a fellow East Bay Posher in real life! She recognized me from the app because she followed my closet and I gave her a Host Pick when I hosted my first Posh Party on the app. I have always heard of these types of meetings happening between people in the app, and it was so cool actually experiencing it. Her username is concept and you can shop her closet here.

The party featured its usual fun photo booth, but mani’s were also being done during the party by Pams & Kin. I loved the cute hangers being painted, and I would have gotten a mani if I had the patience to stay in line, but I was having too much fun catching up with the ladies at Poshmark and my SF blogger friends.

The party had some great co-hosts, including Caity from Moi Contre La Vie and Kate of The Fancy Pants Report. They are both stellar people and amazing bloggers, so I highly recommend checking their blogs out! The party had a great turnout and the lounge was packed for most of the night. Luckily there was a patio area where some of us stepped away to talk, and of course, take pictures! Kat (KatwalkSF), Caity, and I posed by the pool and spent the rest of night talking to our other blogger friends.

I had a blast and these are just a few of the many snapshots of the night. Special thanks to my BF Armando for coming out to the event to take amazing photos and for understanding my obsession with the app!

Stylematic Fashion Show and Launch Party

In the middle of February I attended the Launch Party and Fashion Show hosted by Stylematic that ended up being pretty epic. So much so, that Armando took over photos and it was no easy task narrowing down the best shots and my favorite looks of the show. The app is your personal pocket stylist, and the show featured how the app could help you dress by featuring some looks from local SF designers.  (Note: This post is very photo-heavy, but its a good thing, I promise!)

One of my favorite designs that came down the runway featured leather details. The designer is Candice Cuoco and her style is just as fierce as the leather pieces that walked down the runway. You can find/shop pieces from the collection here.

There were a lot of designers featured, but sadly I cannot remember all of their names. I liked the variety of looks that were featured and I am sure it was a struggle for the same models to change into so many things in such a short amount of time.

One of collections that made me feel really happy was the luxury active wear designed by Ellie. In part because the music was so upbeat and the models moved a little more effortlessly thanks to their sneakers, but the clothes seemed comfortable as well as stylish! It takes a lot of motivation for me to want to go to the gym, but it is a lot easier when I am wearing a cute outfit to the gym. What was interesting to see were some of the pieces being used for outfits to go out in. I love when my clothes can be worn multiple ways, so it is refreshing to gym wear not just be for the gym.

Another collection caught my eye and that was the collection featured by Lan Jaenicke. Paired with legwear by Ellie and not much else, gorgeous coats in different styles and colors dazzled the runway. I loved the minimalist look but how they also made a statement without the rest of the outfit. The camel colored one looks extremely chic and cozy thanks to the expression of the model. I am also a big fan of the orange peplum coat and would not mind adding it to my collection of coats.

There were plenty of other looks and designers featured, but these were my favorite looks. I would definitely check the app out and also visit the page’ of the designers I mentioned to give them your support. It was fun seeing all these looks and it would be great to be able to support emerging designers.

Hope you enjoyed my recap of the show. Until next time,

Stylematic Pre-Launch Party

As I mentioned in my last post, I attended a few events celebrating the launch of a new fashion app called Stylematic. This pre-party was 20’s themed and was celebrated in a cool studio in the Mission.

I think the photos I shared speak for themselves by showing how cool the space was and how fun the party was. I especially enjoyed grabbing some props and taking photos in the photo booth with my fellow blogger friends. Special thanks to Armando for wanting to join me at the party and taking these great shots.
Next up, I’ll be sharing photos from the Stylematic Soft Launch Party and Fashion Show. See you then!

Covet Boutique

It’s been over 2 months since the Grand Opening event at Covet Boutique and it is about time I share a post on the festivities and details of the shop.
There are now 3 Covet Boutiques in San Francisco, with their latest one opening in September on 548 Irving St. The boutique, owned by Frolick jewelry designer, Adrienne Wiley, features her great taste with her carfeully curated collection of beautiful clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags, and scarves. I was swept away by the jewelry and ended up buying two rings. I was going to buy a necklace but when I went back for it it was gone! (I later discovered my boyfriend had bought me the necklace so that he could give it to me on my birthday which happened a few days after this event!)

The opening was celebrated with bubbly and champagne with fabulous people like the ladies of Monogram! The cupcakes were just as yummy as they look!

I received a little goodie bag for attending the event and was stoked to find a scented candle that the shop also sells as well as gorgeous postcards from various destinations in the city. Covet is the place to go for a unique piece in your wardrobe, gift, or to visit with your girlfriends. Can’t get to the city? No problem! Covet Boutique is online and it has been dangerous for me as I’ve been checking out all of the merchandise that has been coming in and what’s been going on sale.
Check out some of my pins  in my Want in My Closet board featuring some items from their website. Enjoy browsing their highly-addicting merchandise!

Bonobos and Le Tote Fit and Sip Shopping Party

On Thursday I attended a happy hour event in SF hosted by LE TOTE and Bonobos. I sipped champagne and mingled, while browsing the clothes and jewelry available in LE TOTE’s summer collection.

Laptops were set up so guests could sign up and for LE TOTE after browsing the clothing available  in their service. I loved the items I saw at their pop up shop and signed up to try their service. I’ll be getting 3 garments and 2 accessories delivered to me to try out. If I love an item I can buy it, but I can always send things back when I am done to receive my next tote. The items I get are based on my style profile and items I specifically like on their website. Here is a sneak peek at their summer collection:

LE TOTE runs for $49 a month, which is not too bad of a deal after seeing all the gorgeous clothes and accessories. We had a discount available at the party for 20% off, so I ended up paying only $42. I am very excited for my first tote to arrive!
I normally don’t share anything regarding men’s fashion, but I thought I should share the dapper clothing provided by Bonobos. What is surprising about the store is that it doesn’t sell any of the clothing there. It is an online store that has physical locations for men to try on their clothing and have it delivered to them after ordering it. (Unfortunately Armando was working during this event so he couldn’t join me to try on the clothing from Bonobos.)

And last but not least, there needs to be a shout out for the lovely flowers supplied by BloomThat at the event.

Aren’t the blooms lovely? Their flower delivery service is a great alternative than other delivery services in SF because they source local florists/flowers and deliver in the city in under 90 minutes. This is the second event I’ve seen their work at, and I definitely recommend them!
This concludes my Thursday night in SF! Hope you liked the photos and let me know if you’ve tried any other clothing rental services before. I am excited to be trying out LE TOTE after seeing and feeling their items and sharing them on my blog! Be prepared for an overload of outfit posts and a cupcake post later this week.
