Indian Summer

Anargosa Print Dress Trina Turk (Similar dress (here) | Feather Earrings Wet Seal | Bow Off-White Wedges Kimchi Blue (Similar here) | Nude Voyage Satchel JUST FAB | Sunglasses DGOver the weekend I was busy attending street festivals in SF and Berkeley along with enjoying the warm, Indian Summer we’ve been experiencing here. Now that is it cold and muggy (with chances of rain) I am surprised we even had that type of weather recently.

This dress is from my personal shopping trip I won last year thanks to an Instagram contest hosted by Boutique Stroll. I had one-on-one time with the boutique owner, cupcakes and champagne, and a discount on purchases I made that day. I fell for the colors and pattern of this dress and wore it to Poshfest in Vegas last year. I did not get a chance to share my experience from that either, but I enjoyed it so much that I will be attending again this year. Tickets are still available and are 20% off this week if you are interested in attending too. It will be held in San Francisco next month. Details are on the Eventbrite page here. i am already at a loss for what to wear, but now that the rain and fog is rolling in I can’t wait to bust out my Fall clothes.

I am also really excited to share that I was featured on WE HEART IT’s Community Spotlight this week. You can check out the full interview here and follow/check out my WE HEART IT account here.

Until next time,

Fall Plaid

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolates are back at Starbucks, but the weather is not cold enough for me to want to enjoy them.

I love warm weather and being able to wear sun dresses, but I also have a thing for Fall. I really enjoy the changing color of the leaves, drinking hot chocolate on cold days, and, of course, Fall fashion. I won’t be dusting off my boots and coats just yet since this weekend is also expected to be warm. Until then, I’ll start incorporating Fall pieces little by little into my outfits.

This skirt is actually no longer in my closet, but it was so fun to wear! It belonged to my mom and every now and then she will give me a bag of things to either take to Crossroads Trading Co. or list on Poshmark. I decided to wear it first before letting it go and it was very fun to style. It sold on Poshmark a couple of weeks ago and it might have had to do with the fact I listed it using photos from this shoot. Having great cover photos can really help with making more sales on Poshmark.

Speaking of sales, I have made quite a few this week and I am pretty excited about that. There have been a few items in My Likes that I have been eyeing, so I might make the leap and buy them once I receive payment from my recent sales. I am looking forward to Poshfest coming up next month and even more excited to dress up for it. If you haven’t join the Poshmark app, I definitely recommend it!

Hope you are having a great week so far!

Meeting Patricia Field

On Friday, I had the opportunity to take a brief trip to San Francisco to head over to Britex Fabrics for a Meet + Greet with Patricia Field. 2 weeks ago, I noticed that Patricia Field had added me on Twitter (say, wha?!) and so I did what anyone else would do and followed her back.
Last Monday I decided to scroll through her tweets and noticed her sharing that she would be in the Bay Area for a Runway Production and Trunk Show in Benicia for House of Field and in support of her colleagues Richard Hallmarq and David Dalrymple . I discovered she would also be at Britex Fabrics for a Meet + Greet but it was scheduled for Friday morning.  I almost lost any hope in meeting her, but luckily I had permission from work to go!  (Hooray for a flexible/awesome job!)

I arrived at Britex Fabrics and instantly recognized her bright, red hair as I walked past the fabrics on the table. The event started with an introduction and an overview of how the event would play out. The goal was to walk and talk with Pat, but the crowd that arrived eventually made that impossible. She was very laid-back in how she spoke and composed herself. She described herself as more of a business person and not an artist and looked completely at home with all the people she interacted with. There was a chance to hear how she got started in her career, her proudest moment (opening her own store) and offered advice to young designers and fashion students in the room.  The overall theme of the talk with Pat was to do what you love and it was refreshing to see that she was in fact doing what she loved with her life.

Besides being able to meet Patricia Field, this event featured a chance to talk with Project Runway Alumni Richard Hallmarq and Emily Payne. I felt out of the loop when they were introduced because I have not watched Project Runway in a very long time so I did not recognize either of them. I think it was great meeting them before looking into their clothing lines and clips of them on Project Runway because they were both passionate and interesting individuals. They also talked about their experiences with fashion design and becoming a business person. Both offered sound advice to students at the event.

Once the Q&A was over, there was the opportunity to ask for autographs. I brought a Sex and the City book,  but instead of asking for that to be signed I asked Patricia Field to sign my belt designed by her. I first noticed this belt on Sex and the City The Movie and discovered, thanks to the book I bought, that it was nicknamed  “Roger”. I found the belt on +Poshmark and it made sense for this piece to be the thing I asked her to sign. After watching the movie, I was inspired to watch the entire Sex and the City series for more clothes and style inspiration. During the Q&A, Patricia said she never intended to cause a style revolution by mixing high and low end items in Sex and the City , but it was highly-received because it was a lot more realistic for someone to pull off that kind of look. This strategy of mixing high and low end items really helped develop my own personal style and it was amazing to meet the woman behind all of that.

Thank you for signing my belt and sharing your words of wisdom Ms. Field. I can’t wait to see the projects you have coming up next year and to see the fruits of the consulting you’ve done on your next TV show. I hope to run into you again someday, possibly wearing this belt and some amazing heels.
Until next time,

Customized

Jade Green Cotton Knit Fit and Flare Dress c/o eShatki | Green and Black Everest Statement Necklace Poshmark | Black Blazer Forever 21 | Rose Gold Watch Marc by Marc Jacobs | Ulltra Black Patent Pumps Steve Madden (similar here) | Black Legacy Satchel JUST FABSeptember is coming to an end, but luckily we are still experiencing some sunny weather in the Bay Area. The fog roles in occasionally, but that doesn’t stop me from reaching for bright colored dresses. This is one of those dresses that can easily transition into Fall with boots and a cardigan. I received this dress from eShatki last month and really enjoyed my experience with their site.

If you have never heard of eShatki before, then you are in for a treat. eShatki is a website where you can order clothes that can be customized when you order them. Their philosophy is “All women have the right to wear affordable fashion that is made for them and makes them look their absolute best.” I am all for their philosophy and am amazed they have dresses for every size (0 – 36W)  While I was browsing the site, I spotted this dress and fell in love with the 50’s vintage style of it. I loved how feminine it is thanks to the pleats and thought the color was pretty bold. I paired it with a masculine watch and black blazer to tone it down, but I love it more without the blazer.

For this dress, I was able to adjust the sleeve length, skirt length and whether the dress came with pockets. A major bonus from the site is that your first order’s customization is free. After that, the fee for customization is $7.50, not a bad deal for a dress that can be made to fit you. I thought the quality of the dress was great for the price, but I will report back after it is cleaned to see how it holds up. In retrospect I might have gone with a shorter hemline, but it was fun having the option to customize my dress.

Will you be ordering any of your Fall clothes from eShatki? I would love to know if there is anything you’ll have to have in your closet once you check out their site!

I am still thinking of the female game-changers in my life, and I have to say has been nice reflecting on that. Make sure to check out my LUNAFEST post to see what inspired this reflection.

Until next time,

LUNAFEST- Flms About, By and For Women

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Luna Bar. All opinions and views expressed are my own.

Last Thursday, I was invited to attend the world premiere of LUNAFEST at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. LUNAFEST is a national traveling film festival featuring short stories of women, by women, for women. The event is presented by LUNA Bar, whole nutrition for women, and all tickets sales from that night benefited the Breast Cancer Fund.
The film festival—by, for, and about women—has  raised 2.5 million dollars to date for the Breast Cancer Fund and other nonprofits around the country. It is also rare in that it is one of the few recognized and heralded avenues reserved for women filmmakers, and enables them to get their films out into the world and to impact and inspire other women filmmakers and their audiences.

I was able to attend the LUNAFEST VIP Reception before the screening of the films and had the chance to hear the songs of the all-female mariachi band Flor de Toloache. I had seen the LUNAFEST trailer before the event and realized when I saw them that they were the band featured in one of the films. They were amazing to hear in person and it was very inspiring to not only hear their music live but also to hear their story and how they are changing the gender norms of mariachi.

I attended the event solo, but luckily I ran into a few of my blogger friends such as Jessica from Fab in Lombardia, Elise from WTFAB! and Aimee from The Ohio Transplant. Jessica and I arrived at about the same time and that made the whole experience for me a lot more fun. We took photos at the photo booth and enjoyed the food, wine and s’mores desserts before we headed in to the theater to find our seats.

After filing into the auditorium and hearing the opening remarks, I was really excited to watch these short stories featuring women in film. All of the filmmakers were in attendance and they took a bow before the screening. This part was pretty inspirational to me because it felt good attending this event and supporting women who are changing the game in film. Out of the 8 films, it is hard to say which one was my favorite since they all featured a great narrative. If I had to pick a favorite film, I would say it is a tie between Chica’s Day and A Good Match because they both featured similar themes of friendship.
Chica’s Day revolved around what appears to be a mother and daughter living a life of luxury having a day of fun with no rules. The plot twist when the father returns home from work at the end is unexpected but really makes you wonder about the deep relationship the woman and child have.
A Good Match featured a girl named Ann who spots her Ex with his new Fiance and his mother at dinner and reveals she does not miss her ex, but instead misses her ex’s mother. She then sets out to give her relationship with her ex’s mom another try. The film seems to ask if splitting up with an ex means the end the relationship with your ex’s mother.
After viewing the films, attendants had the chance to meet with the filmmakers and ask questions I met with the woman behind the lens of A Good Match, Lyn Elliot.  I was able to express how easy it was relating to the main character Ann and how people do have some type of expectations of what a persons mother will be like. If you get along and become friends, shouldn’t the friendship continue even if the relationship with the boyfriend runs south.

I am very happy I had the chance to attend the LUNAFEST festival and would definitely recommend checking out their website for tour dates to see if they’ll be in your city next.  You can always request to host LUNAFEST in your city if you don’t see a tour date near you anytime soon and this festival  can benefit local charities along with the Breast Cancer Fund. You’ll definitely feel inspired when you leave the screening.
I left the event thinking about the women in my life and which of them inspires me the most. Is there a woman that is game-changer/inspiration to you? I’d love to hear about it and if you plan on attending LUNAFEST. I’ll be sharing who I think is a game-changer in my life in my next post.

Until next time,

Mod Dress

Ruffled Trench Coat elevenses | Pink  Lexi Mod Dress Collective Concepts c/o LE TOTE ( here) | Emerald Flower Statement Necklace via Poshmark (similar here) | Black Legacy Bag Just Fab | Striped Scarf  Missoni x Target | Rose Gold Watch  Marc by Marc Jacobs | Buckle Down Bracelet in Gold Urban Gem | Nude Ulltra Pumps Steve Madden (similar here)
I’ve posted a lot about food lately, so I thought it was time I’d share the outfit I wore to try the new Truffleata shakes at Godiva last month. My dress is by Collective Concepts and is a rental from LE TOTE . I loved the shape and worked the rest of the outfit around the color. I bought my Missoni for Target scarf back during the frenzy when Missoni collaborated with Target. I liked the colors and decided it was a pretty versatile piece. I have not worn it around my neck, but it does a great job changing up the look of my everyday bag. The necklace pops nicely against the dark pink dress and I feel the scarf ties the whole look together.
I’ve been really busy since Wednesday. I went out with coworkers for a Happy Hour and a Baseball Game in Oakland. On Thursday I attended LUNAFEST, which I will be talking more about in my next post, and afterwards made my way to El Cerrito to go bowling for a friend’s birthday. I’ve also spent most of the weekend updating my listings on my Poshmark closet. I’ve added more items and updated some photos of my older listings. I am trying to really make space within my studio, so hopefully all this work and effort helps.
I can’t wait to share my LUNAFEST experience in my next post. Hope you are having a great weekend and until next time,
