Luckily, I love to shop at Crossroads Trading Co. and I was very lucky to spot this black and white lace overlay shift dress. I love going through racks of clothes and finding hidden gems like this, but every now and then I like to shop for gently used items online.
My online thrift shopping has recently been enabled by thredUP. This Kate Spade bow belt was one of my first finds on the app brand new with tags. You can shop by designer or style for Women’s, Juniors, and Kids clothes either on their website or from the app. What is also great is you can sell your clothes through their site by ordering a clean out bag. I haven’t tried selling my clothes this way yet, but I love the items I have found so far on the app. I’ll keep you posted with more gems that I find there and if I decide to try selling any items.
Speaking of gems, I have also been pretty obsessed with Rocksbox. The earrings my stylist sent me were gorgeous and I envisioned pairing them with the orange belt. I think my look has just the right amount of color with the classic black and white dress and I love being able to experiment with the jewelry. I ended up buying the buckle bracelet. Currently Rocksbox is giving the first month free, so if you are interested in joining use my referral link here to take advantage of that offer.
Hope you are having a great weekend so far!

“Up All Night” Make Up by One Direction Review

Disclosure: I received makeup to sample from BrandBacker and Markwins International, but all opinions are my own.
I recently began experimenting with beauty products, so when I was given the opportunity to try out a new makeup collection by One Direction, I had mixed feelings about using it. I was psyched to try out new makeup, but what would a boy band know about makeup? Well, that question made me ask Google and I found out they already had makeup out as well as perfume, so this isn’t the boy band’s first time venturing into the world of beauty. (I will come out and admit right off the bat that I have listened to a few of One Direction’s songs, but I don’t even know all of their names except Harry Styles, because come on, who doesn’t know Harry Styles?)
The makeup came in a collectible tin, and there are 3 available named after their albums. I was sent the “Up All Night” Looks Tin and it has a removable plastic sleeve with the boy band and their signatures.  The “Up All Night” tin came with: the Little Black Dress mascara, Na Na Na teal nail polish, Taken pink liquilights glow gloss, I Should Have Kissed You lipstick, Stand Up Navy eye & body crayon, 5 eye shadow palette with colors More Than This, Save You Tonight, Up All Night, Gotta Be You and Another World. The set also included One Direction doodle stencils.
My first impression of the kit was that it featured really bright, make up colors that are fun, but not what I am used to wearing everyday. I like to have fun with my clothes at work, but makeup is an accessory that I never want to have too much of. Some of the colors on the eye shadow palette as well as the lip colors seem like they are more appropriate to wear to go out at night, but I was able to incorporate a few of the eye shadow colors for everyday wear. They lasted all day, especially a few of the ones I tried with sparkle.  liked that I could wear the Little Black Dress mascara everyday. My eyelashes are pretty long and the mascara adds just the right amount of definition and gave the right amount of volume. It earned extra points for being fairly easy to remove at the end of the day too.
Out of all the items in the set, my favorite was the mermaid teal-green nail polish named Na Na Na. I shared a photo yesterday on instagram showing off the pretty color that this nail polish. I needed to apply 3 coats because it was slightly thinner than other polishes, but it dried really fast. I loved the color and experienced no chipping on the first day I had it on.
The eyeliner was new for me, having only used liquid before. I had never seen a big crayon like the one in this kit before either, but I like that it is versatile and can be used on your body as well or as a dark shadow. The color is very rich and bold, and I wore it a few times for attention on my eyes. I am not sure if I would ever use the doodle stencils on myself with this body crayon, but it might be fun to try them out with my 9 year old niece.
I was a little overwhelmed by the lipstick and liquilights glow gloss in the set. At first I was in love with how girly the colors were. Now in retrospect, I would have preferred the “Midnight Memories” tin only because of the more classic red lip colors. The Should Have Kissed You lipstick was a little too pale for my skin tone, and was not as smooth too apply nor long-lasting. The Taken liquilights glow gloss is very intense. It is easy to apply and is sickeningly sweet. It is practically liquid sugar on your lips. The sweet smell was a little too overwhelming at one point to me, but the color was great and it took awhile for it to fade. I might want to try out the two lip products together to decide whether I like them or not, but out off all the items I did not like the lipstick too much.
Overall, I would rate this makeup set as 3 out of 5. It is in a reusable collector’s tin, has products with clever names based on song titles ( or so I am told), and features some pretty trendy colors. It would make a great gift for any One Direction fan, but would not be ideal for someone who prefers subtler makeup. If you’d like to get your hands on a set, here are the scheduled released dates for participating department stores:
Macy’s – August 11thStage Stores – August 25thDillards – August 25thBeauty Brands – August 25thLord and Taylor – August 25th

Regardless of how windy it can be, my hair and I will try to work with the wind enough to get a good shot.
This summer I’ve played around more with bright colors, and I was really excited to try out this blue asymmetrical top c/o LE TOTE. It’s a pretty turquoise, asymmetrical, and has these interesting cut-outs. Not something I would have found on my own, so I am lucky I have a fun stylist at LE TOTE picking out interesting pieces for me. It was the perfect material to wear for a windy/warm day, and the shape of it comes to life thanks to the wind. My white jeans are a Crossroads Trading Co. find, and when I spotted them last year I knew they would be perfect for summer days. I am a little surprised that summer is almost over, and I’ll have to go back wearing darker bottoms.  It makes me want to wear them as much as I can before the month ends, but I know I will just stick to dark bottoms because I am always afraid of getting that one noticeable stain on the day you decide to wear them. I’ll have to really convince myself they won’t get dirty to bravely wear them again (even though they are so comfortable!) Stay tuned to see if I decide to wear these again before I wait another year.
Hope you are having a great week and stay tuned for my first makeup review coming soon,Brandy| BLOGLOVIN | FACEBOOK |  INSTAGRAM |TUMBLR | TWITTER |

GODIVA Happy Hour

A few weeks ago, I attended a small tasting event at GODIVA in honor of their latest masterpieces: the Trufflelata shakes and Soft-Serve. I had Armando (willingly) join me to try out the shakes and soft serve and we hung out with my fellow blogger friends +Chelsea Pearl  (ChelseaPearl) and +Jennifer Henry-Novich (Just Add Glam).
The Trufflelata milkshakes earn their namesake by having actual chocolate truffles blended into the shake. It’s like eating a truffle with every sip. I was really excited to be tasting all 6 of the flavors they currently have available. First, we started out with a sample of the Chocolate Lava Trufflelata. We then went down the list and tried Salted Caramel, Strawberry Creme, Hazelnut Crunch, Milk Chocolate and ended the the Trufflelata tastings with the Oreo truffle. It was definitely hard to pick a favorite, but mine would be a tie between the Hazelnut Crunch and Salted Caramel Trufflelatas. Armando really enjoyed the Oreo Trufflelata.
After we finished the Trufflelata samples, we began sampling the 3 soft serve flavors. First up was the White Chocolate Vanilla Bean, where you could smell the yummy Madagascar vanilla. Next was the Dark Chocolate, which reminded me of a cross between fudge and pudding. The soft serve is thick, which was a nice surprise for me and Armando. We both enjoy a good soft serve treat and will grab one from Burger King or Dairy Queen every now and then, but GODIVA soft serve is truly decadent. We both loved the Swirl flavor because you get the best of both worlds.
After our tasting, we all had the chance to order a complimentary shake or soft serve cone. Most of the attendees opted to go with the cones, and Armando and I requested a full-size version of the Swirl on a praline nut chocolate dipped waffle cone. The result of the soft serve with the waffle cone was truly decadent, and my sweet tooth was completely satisfied.
Now while I got to stuff my face with yummy treats, it doesn’t mean you can’t do the same! GODIVA hosts Happy Hour at participating boutiques on Weekdays from 3PM – 7 PM where you can buy either a GODIVA Trufflelata or Soft Serve and get the second one 50% off. While you enjoy your treat, post a photo of your GODIVA summer fling with #GODIVASweeps to enter for a chance to win a year of GODIVA!  (More info here.) The contest ends September 1, 2014 so hurry on over to a GODIVA nearest to you and get to snapping.
And, as if you can ever get enough chocolate or freebies, check out Just Add Glam’s GODIVA giveaway for a chance to win 1 of 5 $25 GODIVA gift cards.

Black Widow

Black Cardigan and Red Bow Belt Forever 21 (similar belt here) | Grey and Black Patterned Dress Collective Concepts c/o LE TOTE | Black Patent Pigalle Heels Christian Louboutin (here)  | Wrapped Arrow Full Tilt (here) | Black Legacy Bag JUSTFAB! (here)Another look from my first LE TOTE box. I put my subscription on pause for awhile, but this first box makes me question why I ever did that in the first place. It’s like getting back together with your ex and appreciating the positive changes. This box was a big step up from the last one I had and it might be because LE TOTE partnered up with more brands. This patterned dress, by Collective Concepts, was great to wear for work and I really liked how the print reminded me of a spider web. I guess it could also look like concrete rocks, but I added a pop of red, which gave me the inspiration for the title Black Widow.

So far I have shared 4 out of the 5 items from my first box on my blog, and the last piece (a bracelet) should be featured for my outfit post next week. For my next few posts, I’ll be attempting to do my first make-up/beauty review and I’ll be sharing details from a recent tasting I did at Godiva that I attended last week. It was a delicious experience, and I can’t wait to share all the eye-candy with you.

Hope you are having a great week and until next time,

Stripes and Spikes

Striped Zip Front Moto Jacket Sanctuary c/o LE TOTE (On sale here) | Pink Statement Necklace Forever 21 (similar here) | Skinny Jeans 7 For All Mankind (similar here) | Pink Spiked Adina Loafers Sam Edelman (here) | Black Legacy Satchel JUSTFAB (here) | Rose Gold Watch Marc by Marc Jacobs (here)  I’ve been trying out LE TOTE again as part of a collaboration and so far I ave been really impressed my first box. If you aren’t familiar, LE TOTE is a clothing and jewelry subscription service where for $49 a month, you get to try 3 pieces of clothing and 2 pieces of jewelry. They also have just a jewelry box, where you get 3 pieces of jewelry for $19. There is no limit to the number of boxes you get per month, but you do have to return a box before you get your next one. You can purchase an item you love by keeping it and sending back the rest, and they’ll process the payment with the card on file. You can like a number of items as potential items to be sent to you, and also fill out a style quiz so your stylist knows what to send you.
I feel like my stylist was on point with this jacket. I love the stripes and at first glance I thought it had a lot of structure. It has the edge of a classic moto jacket, but it is soft and comfortable like a hoodie. I mixed the navy up with some light pink accents to soften up the look slightly (despite the spikes on the loafers.) This piece was very fun and I would have loved to have it for a 4th of July outfit as well. Luckily, I can always request for an item to be resent to me. You can buy items you try at a discount from LE TOTE, but right now the jacket is currently on sale at Bloomingdale’s. I’d grab the jacket and sign up for LE TOTE to discover and try other on trend items.
Hope you are having a great week so far and until next time,
