Ted Baker Celebrates 25 Years

Krystal and I wearing Ted Baker!

I’ll have the Langley please!
I was invited by Avanti, fashion blogger at 2 Eyes 4 Style, to attend the 25th Anniversary Party hosted by fashion blogger Krystal Bick of This Time Tomorrow at the Ted Baker San Francisco flagship store last night.  Music was playing, cocktails were given away, and to make the event sweeter there was a 25% off discount for your purchase for that day. The discount also applied online, but even though that is over there is still the chance to enter a contest to be sent off to some far off land. Check out the giveaway here.
The top I am wearing is the only item I own from Ted Baker, and had found it at Crossroads. Entering this shop for the first time, I was both in awe and in shock! I really loved the feminine cuts of the clothing as well as all the bright colors and prints, but I could not buy anything since I recently splurged on a Marc Jacobs cross body bag and wallet. If I hadn’t come in with that mindset I would have bought quite a few items in the store! For now I have to be content with just having photos of the clothes as a way of taking the store with me. (On a side note: all the photos were taken using my iPhone and I have to admit they didn’t come out to bad. I like the idea of covering events just with that instead of bringing along my DSLR camera a.k.a. my boyfriend Armando ;D.)
I ran into Alex from SFShopGirl which was a plesant surprise! We’ve run into each other 3 times and I expect it will continue happening. I also met a couple of new faces and I am excited to connect with them and run into them at other events too. While I enjoy sharing my love of fashion and baking, I have enjoyed meeting people through blogging just as much. It took me awhile to work up the confidence to start a blog, share it, and now put myself out there in the real world. It is easy to hide behind a computer and avoid making the effort to meet people face-to-face, but I can say from experience that I am always glad to have made it to an event like this. I am lucky to have met so many like-minded, ambitious, and kind women that live near me and I am thrilled at the thought of continuously meeting new amazing people. It is what keeps me inspired and tethered to the blog community.
On a side note, I would love to share news of upcoming events more often, and I am wondering what the best way would be to do that? Twitter? Facebook? A calendar posted somewhere on my sidebar? Let me know what you think would be the most effective tool or what you prefer just in case you decide to muster up the energy and confidence to go to an event in SF!

My favorite look styled by Britt: Love the orange skirt with the turquoise top and jean jacketBlogger Meet Up: Elise from WTFAB, Kathleen Carla from Inspirafashion and Chandahmeer from Pancake StackerWhit to my left and Britt to my right. Their personalities are just as fun and bubbly like their blog!
Last nite I attended the LookMazing and Madewell  private shopping party and met up with featured stylists Britt and Whit from the Britt and Whit blog.
I found the private party invite through LookMazing’s Facebook page and was intrigued to meet these two SF fashion bloggers. I am always interested meeting other bloggers in the bay area and I have loved their blog for some time now. I recommend you check it out. Two best friends, who do not live together, share their take on fashion while living in San Francisco. It is a great concept and I love that they have each other to support one another with their blog. They are just as bubbly in real life as they are on their blog so I’d definitely recommend checking them out.
The private party was located at the Madewell store at the Westfield Shopping Center in SF. RSVP-ing gave you access to cupcakes and champagne as well as the option to be styled by either of the two bloggers. To sweeten the deal, guests also received 20% off their purchase of $125 dollars or more. LookMazing was also promoting a contest by taking photos of the looks you were styled in with Madewell items. Currently that is going on now on their Facebook Page and you can like either my look with the red dress here or the turquoise top and orange skirt look here so I can win a $50 gift card. (I need it to buy that denim jacket and not feel guilty about the price lol!) Feel free to vote for any of the other looks you like in their photo album as well.
I had a blast seeing familiar faces and making new friends. I also enjoyed being styled by someone else. I am so used to knowing what works for me that hearing another person’s suggestions was actually eye-opening for me. It definitely makes you consider other items you never would have for yourself but actually turns out to look great on you. I’d love to try styling others some day and see if that is a career path I’d be interested in. Patricia Field, costume designer renowned for her work with Sex and the City, makes it look so easy. She created such iconic looks and even though it looks easy, it must be a tough gig.
As for my outfit for the event, I wore something inspired by the Spring weather we are finally having in the Bay. The J.Crew dress was thrifted from Goodwill. I got a pedicure (and haircut over the weekend) and finally busted out some open-toe heels. I found the Manolo Blahnik’s on eBay and also have them in purple but in a velvet material (can’t wait to wear those too!) I wanted to wear something feminine and colorful as an ode to the Britt and Whit blog. The two girls are wonderful ladies and I am so glad to have met them.
Thanks to everyone that made it out and glad I got to meet you!

Macy’s & LookMazing “Spring Into Style”

Once again I spent my Thursday in the city. This time I was at Macy’s in Union Square for their “Spring into Style” Event co-hosted with LookMazing. LookMazing “is a fashion and beauty social network for individuals to showcase their personal style through photo ‘looks’ that can be easily shopped and shared. By ‘admiring’ fellow members of the site, users can browse through each other’s look book, wishlist, and virtual wardrobe to discover new ways to style products and gain fashion advice from friends.”

I was very impressed with the set up and have already created an account on LookMazing.  I was glad to hear about the event from Elise of WTFAB!. She could not make it since she had a friends birthday to celebrate, but I appreciate that she told me about the event!

The LookMazing Photo Booth was set up to take photos of shoppers that styled themselves with an item from the Third Floor in order to enter a contest for a $100 Macy’s Gift Card.

A Mini Nail Salon at the event, many of the shoppers had gorgeous nails by the end of the event.

The refreshments and the fashion bloggers of the night! I wondered who I would meet for the night…

….and to my surprise I met with Fashion Blogger KT from KTR Style  who was styling shoppers at the event. Loved her bright lace top and skirt. (Her Zara heels were to die for too!)

My favorite looks at the event! Models wore outfits styled by the Fashion Bloggers throughout the night.

Fellow fashionistas and fashion enthusiasts mingling throughout the event.

My favorite person of the night had to be Sabrina, Fashion Blogger at RougeSpark.com. She has such a fun, bubbly personality and we hit it off right away! It helps that we have similar fashion sense. As they say, great minds think alike!
What I Wore: Jacket H&M| Navy and Black Silk Top Stella McCartney | Chain Necklace and Pencil Skirt  Forever 21 |  Isabel Glitter Pumps Jimmy Choo | The Bossi Quilted Camera Bag THEIT | Check out Sabrina’s blog Rouge Spark for her outfit detailsAs you can see, I had a blast discovering more about the website and making more fashion blogger friends in real life! I am looking forward to more events like this and I hope you enjoy my coverage of these events. Don’t forget to follow on Bloglovin to stay updated.

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

Boutiika and Hangr16 Present B. Scott

Brandon Scott’s sister Sarah. She also has her own clothing line and is on tour with her brother! Check out her Women’s Line at sarahscottdesign.com
The Refreshments: I loved the Lemonade with Gin and Rosemary. Wish I had tried the Iced Tea with Bourbon and Basil!

Black Blazer 7 for All Mankind | Grey Sweater August Silk | Jeans, Purse, Rings and Bracelets Forever 21 | Black Zeda Boots Madden Girl | Scarf Marc Jacobs | Watch Marc by Marc Jacobs | iPhone4 Camera Case iCA Gizmon  (Buy Here)
I was invited by Boutiika to a trunk show they were cohosting Thursday night with the Hangr16 Boutique for the Spring 2013 collection launch of designer B:Scott from NBC’s show FashionStar.
I posted a couple of photos last night during the event on Instagram using my new iPhone camera case! It was a great conversation starter and I took a bunch of photos of the great merchandise the store offers. Don’t forget to check out my account and follow @willbakeforshoes for more photos.

I was really excited to have met the people behind Boutiika as well as the designer of the hour. He was a very down-to-earth guy and it was surreal to me to be meeting the creator behind the clothing. I initially thought I wanted to be a designer while I was studying for my undergrad, but I never got around to learning how to use a sewing machine. I am so impressed when people can design a full collection every season because it is a lot easier said than done! (I know from failed attempts after all.) It is also not every day that I meet a designer, which added to the magic of it all.

The B:Scott collection is perfect for living in San Francisco, which is one of the influences to Brandon’s 2013 Spring collection. There were plenty of basics with the intent for layering and asymmetrical details in the zippers. Most of the items had features to cover one’s mouth or ears which is meant to be practical when biking in the city. The ease of his clothing really resonates with the street style in San Francisco.

I was lucky enough to meet Brandon’s sister who also happens to be the designer of her own women’s clothing line and can be found at sarahscottdesign.com. As seen in the photo above, she designed her feminine varsity jacket and the black messenger bag she is carrying. I am in love with her jacket and might be buying it in a different color at the beginning of next month. She shared photos from her collection and I loved being able to browse through it. She is my latest designer crush now with her use of leopard print, leather, and spin on classic jackets. (I am also really tempted to buy that bag too!)

Both siblings are on a cross country tour together so check out their site to see if they are making a stop at a boutique in a city near you!
I enjoyed the event and hope you enjoyed my coverage of it. The Hangr16 boutique has been voted as a top location for Menswear in San Francisco, so I am excited to use Boutiika to discover more boutiques in the area that I would not normally know of.  I plan on making a trip to SF to shop just using the Boutiika site as my guide, so stay tuned for that post in the near future.

Thanks for reading and Happy Friday!

Poshmark Party

As I mentioned yesterday in my last blog post, I was invited to meet up event hosted by Poshmark in SF. There was free wine and fashion talk, how could I not go?!
But first you may ask, what is Poshmark? Poshmark is an app that allows to take photos of items in your closet that you would like to sell and allows for you to shop other women’s closets! Sort of like Instagram meets eBay, but better! Currently the app is only available on Apple devices, but an Android version is in the works.
I posted a lot of photos on Instagram, but here are a few photos from the event. All 3 of these photos are courtesy of the Poshmark Facebook Page.

The meet up was in SF located at the W Hotel of which I am no stranger. (See post on magazine issue release party here!)Image from Poshmark Facebook Page

Everyone from the Poshmark crew were so nice! It was fun meeting them and seeing how passionate they were about their company! The same is true with their community members. Above I am photographed with Julie and below I am with Tracy and Beth. Image from Poshmark Facebook PageI only took iPhone photos of the event because it can be very difficult to carry your own coat/bag, pass out business cards, drink wine, and use a DSLR camera. Plus this allowed for me to follow other people’s closets right away. I am so used to attending events with someone that I have come to rely on photos being taken by someone else while I network. It was interesting going solo and learning how to mingle. I found it to be really easy, but it might have been because of the wine or because people there were really nice and positive.
I am actually pretty inspired by the event and plan to get a bulk of the clothes I have in a pile to sell listed on my Poshmark account. I have been saying that for awhile, but I want to start building credit so I can shop other people’s closets guilt-free.
By the next meet up event I am hoping to have sold a few items, but we’ll see! Follow me on Poshmark @willbakeforshoe if you have an account so you can stay updated with items I sell and so I can check out your closet too!

Shop It Like It’s Hot

I spent my Wednesday night at an exclusive shopping event sponsored by Chictopia in partnership with Crossroads Trading Co., American Apparel and other San Francisco local boutiques.
The event was held at the 111 Minna Gallery and I was excited to take a look at the items Crossroads would be debuting for spring.  Guest bloggers Kathleen from Inspirafashion and Jessica from Happa Time were also there providing style advice to the first 50 guests to attend.  I met Kathleen at the last Crossroads Shopping event and she is such a sweety. She looked great and I am sorry to not have a photo of her, but I am sure she will post her outfit on her blog. I met Jessica for the first time and she seems to be a real nice person too.
Slides of photos from Chictopia’s site next to DJ: Tender Buttons The event was packed with people shopping and networking.Lights setting the artsy mood for the event.Art that had been added to the gallery earlier this week.Scouring through the Crossroads racks for some great deals and finds.

The outfit and the shoes-If you want to leave an impression, wear fabulous shoes.

Black Blazer and Jeans 7 For All Mankind | Top Diane Von Furstenberg | Bracelets and Ring Forever 21 |  Silver Glitter Baxen Wedges Jimmy Choo | Black Quilted Bossi Camera Bag THEITAs you can see from my big bag, I found more than I expected.  I am glad I sold some clothes last week and came in with some trade for the event. I feel I am doing a great job with my finances this month and staying sustainable by reselling clothes I don’t wear and buying other people’s unworn treasures.
I met a lot of people and overall had a great experience. It’s refreshing to meet other bloggers who are making it in the fashion world doing what they love. I am loving these types of events where I meet people that are passionate about clothes, their jobs, or their interests. A big thank you to Crossroads for the invite and to Chictopia for hosting this wonderful event!
