Trench Coat Viktor & Rolf, Purple Wrap Dress Diane Von Furstenberg, Glitter Peep-Toe Wedges Jimmy Choo, Peacock Earrings and Love Ring Forever 21, Sunglasses DG
I can’t believe how quickly the week is flying by! This outfit post is from last week, but now that the sun is out I feel like I can’t just post something from this week without giving this look the attention it deserves.
I have always steered clear of any coat that was not black because I have always been the type to want everything to match. It seemed almost unreasonable to own anything that didn’t fit my black and white scheme. Since purchasing this trench coat my mind has changed completely! You could almost say it was love at first sight! (It even has heart details!)
I love that this trench coat has transitioned seamlessly into my wardrobe. It is the perfect coat to wear over my spring dresses like this DVF purple wrap dress. I love the color, shape, and feel of the material. This is another one of my purchases from Crossroads Trading Co. and I am never disappointed with the items I walk out with. I have been keeping with my resolution of being more sustainable with my shopping habits and aside from the jewelry, my outfit is composed of gently used goods. (Even the Jimmy Choos which I snagged on eBay!) The coat is something I found at Goodwill, so at this point I feel like a lucky shopper. I am always able to find amazing things for a good price. That is also a negative because I end up having an overflow of clothes spilling out of my closet and the hubs says nothing unless it gets in his way. (I am so lucky he understands, but he is always questioning why I keep shopping!)
I am looking forward to wearing more cute dresses (and fun shoes) for Spring. I am also slowly cleaning out my closet so make sure to check out my Poshmark account @ pandycakes to shop clothes that you may or may not have seen on the blog.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of the week. (It is almost over!!)
xo,
Spring
Can’t Always Get What You Want
Cropped Jacket Younique, Shirt Wet Seal, Pleated Skirt Everly, Flats Fairy Tales Come True, Necklace Forever 21, Sunglasses Diane Von Furstenberg
This week has been a little crazy.
Not only did I find out I have a new job that I’ll be starting on Monday, my dad also had surgery.
I spent most of it traveling back and forth from Salinas to Berkeley in order to be there for my dad. The day before I left to Salinas I found out I had been hired for one of the two positions I had applied for last month. I should have been overjoyed except I felt nothing but disappointment because I did not get the position I initially applied for. Needless to say, the timing was not the best when I was already feeling worried about my dad’s pending surgery.
I know I should feel grateful to even have a job soon after graduating from college during a period of high unemployment, but it is only natural to feel disappointment when we don’t get what we want. Even though I am now feeling pretty excited with the new opportunities this other position has in store for me, it was important for me to feel unhappy instead of pretending everything was okay. I feel I have matured and grown up a little from this experience. In some ways I am glad I did not get the other position because I know the best candidate was chosen. Often times people feel entitled to things and cannot accept a loss, but it is important to understand we don’t always get what we want, and sometimes it is a good thing.
My dad’s surgery went well and I officially start my new position Monday. I know this text has nothing to do with the photos (which are from St. Patrick’s Day), but I appreciate if you have read this far because I have been absent and wanted to share more about myself than I am used to. I typically share only the positive moments on my blog, but life isn’t always fun. It is what we make of it and I am glad if you are reading about my ups as well as my downs.
Thanks again for reading and following!
Love,
P.S. Don’t forget to check out my Poshmark closet! I’ve added a few items featured on the blog and might be adding the green cropped cargo jacket seen above. I am also adding more items this week so follow me in case you don’t want to miss out!
Easter Sunday
Black Shrug Pink Rose | Dress Maggy London | Flats Steven by Steve MaddenEaster Sunday has always been about dressing our best, regardless of the weather. As I mentioned in last year’s Easter post, my parents would always have my sister and I dressed up like dolls for Easter. Our dresses would always have floral print and for most of my childhood I can recall wearing a bonnet/hat, white gloves, and carrying around a white patent purse. It was simply cute and chic! My parents had raised two boys before they had me and my sister, so they went all out with the girly looks.
Although I am not wearing floral print, I am wearing a dress appropriate for the spring weather. While I was wearing this dress I felt like Charlotte York from Sex and the City: the shape and colors of the dress seem to suit her character so I kept it simple and did not add any jewelry. I wish I owned a pair of hot pink pumps to go with this, but I relied on my patent peep-toe flats to add enough sass to the outfit. I know what I will be shopping for this Spring! (wink, wink)
I was pretty busy baking cakes for the family all day and making cupcake samples for a client I planned to meet up with on Monday so sorry for the late post again! Hope you had a wonderful Easter and don’t forget to follow my blog with Bloglovin!

Another Job Interview
Black Suit and Blue Top Calvin Klein | Nude Ulltra Pumps Steve Madden | Camera Bag THEIT | Blue Scarf Coach | Ring Forever 21 | Gold Chain Necklace St. John 2nd round of interviews! I wore my classic Calvin Klein suit again on Tuesday but changed up the top and accessories. (Previous look here.) For an extra pop of color I added the blue scarf to my purse. I did very well in the interview and felt less nervous about it. I should be hearing back regarding the position soon (or if I need to go in for yet another interview).
My favorite part of this outfit is my St. John necklace that I found at the Alameda Antique Fair for only $3. What a steal! I doubt the man selling this knew exactly what kind of treasure he had. I bought this because it looked like a cool chain and the clasp makes me think it is meant to be worn as a belt. We will see if that works with my trousers with belt loops. In the meantime, it makes for a pretty chic and edgy necklace.
This post is a little late in part because I was busy preparing for my cake decorating class’s final. If you follow me on Instagram (@willbakeforshoes)you can see what I’ve been up to. My cake turned out beautifully and I will also try to do a post of it and Instagram recap of all the new decorating tricks I have learned. (I can make flowers out of gum paste now and use fondant!)
I won’t be taking another class for a while, but I will definitely be practicing what I have learned so make sure to follow me on Bloglovin to see more of my cake decorating.
Check out my Instagram later tonight as I cover the Macy’s LOOKMAZING event in SF. Maybe I’ll see some of you fellow bloggers and fashionistas there!Brandy| BLOGLOVIN | FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM |TUMBLR | TWITTER |
Pink and Gold
Cardigan, Pants, Bracelets, Ring Forever 21 | Top Diane Von Furstenberg | Gold Spiked Toe Flats Sam Edelman | Necklace No Label (Purchased at the Alameda Antique Fair)Happy Monday!
Here is an outfit post from 2 weeks ago. I was not able to take today’s outfit photo because I had to bake two cakes for my final decorating class tomorrow. We will be covering a cake with fondant: So exciting!
I am also pretty happy with the necklace I found at the Alameda Antique Fair earlier this month. It matches the sequins in my top so well! I love the mix of dark pink with gold in this outfit. I also wore my new Sam Edelman Beatrix flats in gold. This is my 4th pair of these flats in a different color. I am obsessed with how comfortable they are and the cute spikes. To match, I added my spike bracelet and ring from Forever 21. It is a blend of sweet and tough with the pinks and sequins with the spikes and chains.
Time to get back to the cakes in the oven! Thanks for reading my short post and I hope you stop by later this week for updates on my job interviews!

Hello Spring!
Floral Dress Kirna Zabate for Target | Lovebirds Belt H&M, Rose Earrings Forever 21 | Tights Chinese Laundry | Ulltra Black Pumps Steve MaddenSpring is here! Time to bust out the floral prints!
I dressed up despite it raining because we had a recognition lunch at work at Five, a bistro located at the Shattuck Plaza Hotel. I shared some photos on Instagram. The food was amazing, and it was fun to have an occasion to dress up for.
I love the print and shape of this dress! I found it at a Goodwill in Salinas with all the tags attached for 9.99. I love how it is sheer but still covers up a lot. Very feminine and retro. I should have worn my hair in a bun for a classic secretary look! (Next time!) As you can see from my recent posts I am a fan of Designer Collaborations with Target. I typically hold out and buy items on sale, on eBay, or until I find them in thrift shops. Their dresses are usually too cute to pass up but I sometimes cannot bring myself to pay full price!
I am also fond of the belt and added it to look like 2 birds flying among the flowers in my dress. My earrings matched the print of the dress too! It is my first time wearing them since purchasing them a year ago. Sometimes you just have to hold out until you find a perfect match.
I can see myself wearing this dress again soon. I have some fun purple petal heels I plan on wearing with this minus the tights. It is perfect for Spring and I am looking forward to the warmer weather and wearing my dresses more often!
