I am not sure how you feel about rainy days, but I tend to think as I am half-asleep how I’ll be able to put an outfit together that is warm yet stylish when I never anticipated rain in the first place. (My other thoughts when I hear rain outside is to stay in bed, but that is another story completely.)
I’ve been saving this outfit for a rainy day (pun intended) since I took these photos before Christmas. My outfit is more geared for a really cold day in the winter, but it was also raining the morning of this photo shoot. I went on a huge shopping spree at Express during December and purchased this classic wool hat, portofino shirt and color block skirt. I’ve been obsessed with their skirts lately, and I feel I am finding really great pieces that flatter my body. Armando has always liked Express, and I finally get why – their work appropriate clothing is affordable and on point.
Although it seems like I bought a whole new outfit from head-to-toe (which I kinda did) I am actually wearing some of the very first pairs of shoes I ever purchased from DSW. These Nine West boots are from my first year of college, and they have been one of the best boots I’ve ever purchased (and they were even on sale!) I wore these to class a few times and to my work-study job and I always felt they were comfortable while they gave me the look of longer legs. The heel cap wore down quickly, and I took them to a shoe cobbler (another first for me) who gave them some new life. Shoes can last a long time if you take care of them, and I’m glad I have taken care of these because they are great staple to my wardrobe. The coat and scarf are also old favorites that I am constantly reaching for during the winter. There is just something about a black coat and simple black scarf that is hard to resist.
To ease my decisions of getting dressed for a rainy day, my new formula for rainy days will be: hat + boots + coat. And of course an umbrella, can’t forget the umbrella.
Hope you are having a great week so far!

Floral Midi

Happy Monday!
For today’s outfit post, I thought I would share one of my latest purchase from the KTR Collection. This is a floral midi skirt at first glance, but it also has the ability to be worn as a mini skirt. (I know, I’ll let that sink in for a minute.) Talk about double-duty! I am always looking at pieces that can last and be worn multiple ways, and this skirt provides me with a lot of options considering it can be dressed up or down. I opted to wear the skirt as a midi first since I have been obsessed with that style lately. I also feel it is a great way to wear a skirt on a colder day with the extra length. I am very excited with it, but I also have a few other pieces I purchased from the same designer I am equally as excited about.
Since the floral print is strong and bold, I kept the rest of the look subtle with some nice black pieces. I found the Manolo Blahnik heels from my favorite online consignment store, The Real Real. They were in amazing condition, and work with so many clothes in my closet. They felt like a pretty good investment, and I would buy them in every color if I could. I’ve also mentioned thredUP on my blog before as being one of my go-to sites for shopping, and I found this DVF top through that site. I love the sleeves and how they almost look like flowers petals.
Hope you had a great Easter weekend with your family. I was unable to spend it with mine this year, but one of these weekends I will be heading home to celebrate a few important birthdays. Maybe I will be wearing another one of my new KTR Collection pieces.
Until next time,

Macy’s Prom Fashion Show 2015

Yesterday I attended the Macy’s Prom Fashion Show event at the Valley Fair Mall in San Jose hosted by Youtube Vlogger Lindsey Hughes. Since I went shopping for my own Prom dresses at this store with my Mom, it was only fitting that I invited her as my date! We arrived and received wristbands for a Meet + Greet with Lindsey after the show. I don’t spend as much time on Youtube checking out beauty vloggers, so it might come as less of a shock for me to say I didn’t know who she was. I did check out a few of her videos right before the event and in meeting her after the show, I could see was just a genuine and sweet as she appears.

I loved a number of the dresses that walked down the runway, but I will admit I was surprised with the whole crop top trend for Prom. I am not sure how many school dress codes would even allow that (I know mine would not), but I appreciated some of the versatility of the skirts. Here are my favorite looks of the show:

Bright colors were big, along with print dresses. I loved the prints, but my favorite dresses featured sequins. I would have opted for a rich color like cobalt blue if I were to go to Prom again, but I would love something with sequins and feathers as well.

I especially loved this last dress as you can tell. Hope you enjoyed my pictures of the fashion show and let me know what would you wear to Prom if you were to go?

Macy’s Prom 2015 Fashion Show Invitation

What? Macy’s Prom Fashion ShowWhen? Saturday, March 28, 2014, 2:00 PMWhere? Macy’s at the Valley Fair Mall, San JoseWhy? Check out Macy’s Prom collection and meet Youtube vlogger Lindsey Hughes
Last week I was in the city and overheard a mom and daughter during their shopping trip looking for the right pair of shoes to pair with the daughter’s prom dress. I felt a little nostalgic thinking how around this time while I was in high school, my Mom and I would be shopping for prom dresses and the right pair of shoes. We relied on Macy’s in Salinas and in San Jose for a majority of my Prom shopping. Since Macy’s was a big part of my prom experience when I was in high school, I am happy to share that this Saturday, Macy’s will be hosting a Prom Fashion Show in-store at 2pm at the Valley Fair Mall in San Jose.
After the Prom Fashion Show, the first 150 guests will have a chance to meet Youtube vlogger Lindsey Hughes and receive 20% off a prom dress from the MStyleLab or Missy Social Dresses on Saturday.
I encourage you to grab a girlfriend or 2 to go and check out Macy’s selection of  dresses for this Prom season. I went to my high school prom 3 times, and 2 of my 3 dresses I wore were from Macy’s. The first one I was asked to attend 2 weeks before Prom by my date, and I had very little time to find a dress. Luckily I found an elegant, long black halter dress to wear, and Macy’s proved to be the best one stop shop for me, especially at the last minute. Even though I am not attending Prom this year, I can’t wait to check out their dresses this Saturday.
Hope to see you there if you are local, and if you can’t make it, stay tuned for my live Instagram and Twitter updates this Saturday and a recap blog post after the event! You can also find more info for other Prom events here.

Les Mechantes had taken over the vault, and I along with a few other bloggers had a chance to shop the goodies and get some complimentary beauty services.
The Beauty Company is my favorite place to get a mani/pedi in the Bay Area, but they also offer full on salon services and an array of beauty products to shop from.  I wanted to get a bright mani pedi for the first day of Spring last week, and went with a shade of mint called Wet with an accent of a silver glitter called Dimepiece, both by Floss Gloss.
I really wanted a pedicure so I could finally show off my toes in my rose gold Kate Spade wedges I scored from The Real Real at the end of summer last year. These have been sitting in my closet waiting for warmer weather, and this outfit called for some cute sandals. I also took the colors on the scarf into consideration before settling on the turquoise nail polish by Floss Gloss. (I love how well it compliments the rose gold!) As I mentioned in my last post, I have been obsessed with my floral scarf lately and wanted to share another way to style it. It might be featured more often this Spring/Summer along with my Kate Spade cross body bag.
The brunch was fun and I was really glad I had a chance to spend some time with some old and new blogger friends. A special thanks to Chelsea for helping take these outfit shots. Check out her outfit post from our brunch here.
And stay tuned for some fun event recap posts coming to the blog this week.
Until next time!

Work It, Will Bake for Shoes

Last weekend I had the chance to have my photos taken by Brittany Curran, the Street Style and Food Blogger behind Work It, Berk! and to be featured in her Blogger series Work It, Bloggers! This photo shoot was special to me because Brittany took my photo one random day as I was waiting at a bus stop in 2009 and peeked my interest in the world of fashion blogging. I found out that back then asking strangers to take their photos was still new to her, but when she approached me I thought she did it all the time!
I was not blogger when I met her, but I was really flattered she liked my outfit and wanted to take a photo of me in it. It was a fleeting moment, but it had a big impact on me and it made this photo shoot even sweeter. I know I’ve said before that the biggest perk from blogging is being able to connect and meet new people, and this is probably one of the best examples of that!
For our photo shoot, I decided to wear something colorful and casual for the weekend. The warm Winter we have had in the Bay Area just calls for some color. I’ve been obsessed with this Express floral print scarf and have worn it with a couple of my outfits already. I wore this to a little Blogger Brunch at the Beauty Company on Polk Street yesterday, and I can’t wait to share my outfit featuring this scarf. My pants are a lot brighter than I am used to, but I love how they pop and how they make a bigger statement than regular jeans for the weekend. I have them listed for sale on my Poshmark closet here in case you want to check them out!
I had a lot of fun shooting with Brittany and I hope I hope you can check out the full interview on her site here.
