Sheer Navy Marlabis Silk Blouse Diane Von Furstenberg | Gold Necklace Subversive for Target | Navy Beanie, Black Skirt, Black Leggings, Gold Ring Forever 21 | Zeda Black Boots Madden Girl | Patent Cross Body Bag Mulberry for TargetThis outfit is from last month. On Sunday after the magazine release party I treated Mando out to dinner as a thank you for all his help and support with the blog.
We went to Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen to try the restaurant, and New Orlean style food, for the first time. The food was excellent and did not disappoint! We ordered hush puppies, jambalaya, voodoo shrimp, and beignets!
I don’t normally review restaurants, but this place was so good it has become my favorite restaurant now. I loved the atmosphere and the food was excellent.
I tried to dress trendy and feel like I succeeded with the beanie and necklace. It felt appropriate to wear dark clothing in a candlelit place.
What do you think of the outfit? What would you wear on a dinner date? Let me know below or through Polyvore!

New Year’s Eve
White Blazer XOXO, Gold Knit Sweater BCX, Black Skinny Jeans Bebe, Cameo Necklace and Flower Ring Forever 21, Bag and Scarf Coach, Gold Belt Kensie Girl, Gold Glitter Ulltra Pumps Steve MaddenHappy New Year Everyone! We made it to the year 2013!
This was my New Years Eve party outfit, and while it is a little on the casual side, I am wearing a very sparkly knit top and glitter heels! Enough sparkle for the two house parties I attended. I borrowed the blazer and purse from my mom’s closet. This is part of my new year’s resolution.
My resolutions are not completely original but looking back this year I realize I don’t really need to buy clothes constantly. I have been reading Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth Cline and have been rethinking my shopping habits. While I am thrifting for most of my finds, I used to aim for trendy items from Forever 21 or H&M. While I haven’t completed the book yet, I have thought about how to reduce my carbon footprint and become more sustainable.
It’s a heavy issue, and it is not something I thought would ever pop into my blog because I started out with the intention of just sharing outfits and focusing how to dress with my finds on a recent college grad budget. It’s almost crazy to our generation to think of wearing the same thing everyday or not buying something new each week. I feel more compelled to shop at thrift stores or recycled clothing stores like Crossroads Trading Co. or Buffalo Exchange because at least then clothes can be re-used and kept out of landfills. The other focus is looking for quality pieces and maintaining them. I plan on sharing this throughout the year and while I don’t know if I can ever stop shopping at cheap retailers, I can make an effort to not buy something just because it is trendy. Instead I need to focus on what can last and be timeless additions to wardrobe. If I stopped buying cheap things all the time maybe I could save enough to afford a Chanel purse by the end of the year! (Hey, a girl can dream.)
Since my pursuit to be Eco friendly may also save money I also plan to cook more often at home. I had been eating out a lot since I have had a regular salary, but both my wallet and waist-line have suffered! I’d like to eat healthy food; more fruits and vegetables need to be incorporated into my meals! Everyone wants to lose weight and makes this resolution for the new year, but all I want is to be toned and have more energy. I plan to resume swimming regularly and I already have my swimsuit ready to go!
I know quite a few changes will be made to my blog throughout the year, but I know they will be positive ones. In a few months I will have completed my first year of blogging, and already it is really different from what it started out as. I am so proud to have continued for this long when I think about wanting to start a blog but never following through with it. Thanks again for following, reading, and commenting last year and I hope you’ll visit again throughout the new year.
And on to the question of the day, what did you wear for New Years Eve? Let me know below or through Polyvore!
The Winter Cape
Grey Cape Jou Jou | Black Jeans, Grey Knit Beanie and JADORE Double Ring Forever 21 | Black Sweater (Underneath) New York & Company | Grey Buckle Booties Madden Girl | Black Hobo Purse Coach
This was my Sunday outfit. My sister, mom, and I spent the day shopping in Sand City. I am wearing a cape that I borrowed from my mom’s closet. The booties are borrowed as well from my sister’s closet!
I wore the cape being aware that having a lot of volume up top meant everything else would need to be fitted. I would like to wear the cape again with a pencil skirt and heels, or a sheath dress. I love that I took a risk with something I would not have considered wearing before, but it was well worth! Next year I will be open to taking more risks too!
What resolutions are you thinking about for next year? I will share more of mine tomorrow! Thanks for reading!

Heart Print Hoodie
Black Pea Coat, Black Jeans, Gray Beanie, Panda Pendant, Heart Ring Forever 21 | Grey Heart Print Hoodie Pink Victoria’s Secret | Grey T-Shirt Wet Seal | White Leather Sneakers ConverseThis is a casual outfit from 2 weeks ago.
I typically go for looks that make me look like a “sophisticated” career woman to work, but every now and then I just want to roll out of bed and get through Friday. It was another chilly day and I am basically living in the same Kenneth Cole Sweater I wore yesterday, so bringing this post to light was also necessary. The layering is perfect for the cold weather, and I looked perfectly hipster at my desk drinking coffee and wearing my Ray-Ban computer glasses.
The hoodie is a thrift store find and I love the fun heart print! I had a matching ring to complete the look. What do you think? How would you wear this printed hoodie?

Ice Skating
Red Plaid Jacket Forever 21 (here) | Dark Wash Skinny Jeans Forever 21 | Grey Sweater Top Kenneth Cole | Black Scarf Coach | Grey Gloves Hot Topic | Suede Black Boots and Black Ruffle Bag Steve Madden | Grey Earmuffs Material Girl
Today my sister wanted to take the kids – our niece and nephew – ice skating, so we drove up to Monterey Bay to skate near the Portola Hotel & Spa. My sister, niece, and nephew skated while Armando and I watched from the sidelines and took photos. Since my sister and I share the same shoe size I was able to take her place for a bit and skated with the kids.
For my outfit, I picked out this red buffalo plaid jacket from Forever 21 and paired it with a Coach scarf from my sister’s closet. It was very chilly, and I still felt cold despite wearing my gloves, earmuffs, and scarf. To warm up we ate clam chowder at a nearby restaurant. It was the perfect way to end the afternoon after skating for a couple of hours.

Striped Sweater
Navy Striped Sweater Olive & Oak | Navy Coat Juicy Couture | Dark Wash Jeans and Beige Ring Forever 21 | Satin Rhinestone Brooch Flats J.CrewAnother one of my new sweaters. I love how it worked seamlessly with other items in my wardrobe, especially these flats!
I am enjoying my vacation and time with my family. I’ve also had some time to plan out updates for the blog for the coming year. I usually don’t make any resolutions for the New Year because I would always decide on things at the beginning of the Fall Semester. Now that I am no longer in school, New Year’s is the perfect time to start anew. I already started cleaning out my closet so I let go of things I no longer wear. Wish me luck so I can actually let go of things!
What would you wear with a striped sweater? Leave me a comment and let me know. Thanks for reading!
