I used to wear black colored clothing all the time because I felt it was easy to wear, but ever since I graduated, I feel I have been reaching for bright colors and prints more often. Red is one of my favorite shades, and I am convinced the little red dress is a must-have piece for any fashionista’s wardrobe.
My love of the red dress was inspired by Zooey Deschanel in New Girl when she wears her Zara dress in the opening credits, and now I own a few dresses in red and that Zara dress. While I like how cute and sweet the Zara dress is, it doesn’t compare to the formfitting effects of a DVF wrap dress. I found this little number last weekend while shopping in SF, and it fits like a glove. I will admit I own the same dress in purple, but the material is very breathable and I could not pass this beauty up knowing the weather was going to be ridiculously hot later in the week. A red wrap dress is definitely a statement piece and it works on a hot day at the office or for a hot date at night.
I know I am focusing on DVF during my series, but I am also really digging my bracelet. I am renting it thanks to RocksBox, and I am tempted to buy it! It is simple and elegant and I can see myself wearing it with more outfits.
And, before I forget, happy Friday! Thanks for ready Day 16 and see you back here tomorrow!

When I am at work I feel like I’ve had enough of the heatwave, and then the afternoon rolls around and I love being able to walk around at night without needing a sweater. I also appreciate being able to wear my summer skirts. Today’s DVF piece is the beige Postage Stamp skirt that looks like it is made up of feathers. I love the texture and I feel it looks like a couture piece. I dressed it down with my dark wash chambray button down and neutral flats. My flats and necklace are some of my finds while shopping on Poshmark. I was able to buy both pieces using some extra cash I made selling some of my own items and it always feels good to buy something guilt-free. If this heatwave continues I might have to wear this skirt again styled up for work again.
Thanks for staying updated with my 40 Days of DVF series. I can’t believe I am almost at the half-way point when I have so many more outfits to share! See you tomorrow with my next post.

I’ve always wondered if wearing black during the middle of a heatwave was practical or a faux pax but after trying this look I would like to say declare that it is possible to wear black and not pass out from the heat. The trick is you need to wear light, breathable materials. Both my top and skirt are by DVF and both pieces can be worn in different ways. I’ve used the top during the winter, as seen here, and it just reinforces how versatile this top is. The skirt can easily be worn with a white tank and wedges for a more casual weekend look.
Hopefully you are keeping cool wherever you are, and I’ll see you again for Day 15. Until next time,

40 Days of DVF: Day 13

Pink Cardigan New York & Co. | Green Floral Tank Diane von Furstenberg | Jeans 7 For All Mankind | Pink Suede d’Orsay Flats Dolce Vita | Photos by JennyMay VillareteIt is hot today! I am sure if you read any other Bay Area blogger’s blog they will concur. I’ve lived in this area for about 5-6 years, and it is typically cool thanks to the fog. I am enjoying the sunny days and it makes me realize I need some more sandals/wedges in my shoe collection, but sometimes it can be difficult dressing in this dry heat.
For Day 13 of my 40 Days of DVF, I thought I would share photos taken by JennyMay at a rooftop party I attended two months ago at a friend’s apartment building in the city. My floral print top is DVF and I feel the colors on it are very rich. This party was in SF, so I prepared for a windy day by wearing jeans, my cardigan and I had my short trench coat with me just in case. My friends and I enjoyed macarons, champagne, mini cupcakes and some nice girl talk. I love being able to catch up with friends and I met all the people at the event thanks to blogging.
Hope you enjoyed this look and I look forward to sharing my next look tomorrow! Until then,

40 Days of DVF: Day 12

Green Leaf Print Jessica Wrap Dress Diane von Furstenberg | Denim Jean Jacket Heritage 1981 | Wedges Kimchi Blue Happy Monday!
I typically save my wrap dress for work days, but I wore this for the weekend at home. Once again, I scored this beauty at Crossroads Trading Co. I feel like wrap dresses tend to say a lot on their own, and I didn’t wear any jewelry with this outfit. When I am spending time with my family I try not to wear outfits that are too fussy and pairing this dress with a denim jacket and wedges adds enough interest without going overboard.
This week it is expected to be really warm  in the Bay Area (up in the 80’s) and I am preparing to wear some more of my Spring/Summer pieces. Hope you had a great weekend and are having a great start to your week!

40 Days of DVF: Day 11

Navy Vest with Brooch Twelve by Twelve (here) | Black Button Down Diane Von Furstenberg (here) | Jeans and rings Forever 21 |  Black Zeda Boots Madden Girl
Sometimes when I wear a DVF piece it isn’t the focal point of the look. This look came together after I decided to wear the navy vest. All the other pieces followed and although I feel the outfit might look a little bit like a costume, I liked the final look. I am embarrassed to admit that this outfit is from 4 or 5 months ago and it has just been sitting in my drafts. I debated whether it really should be published now, but seeing as my last post was really late I thought it’d be best to share one that was ready to go and featured at least one DVF piece.

I came down to Salinas to visit my family last night and surprise my mother and grandma for Mother’s Day. I wanted to make sure this was published before I hit the road back to the Bay Area, but I hope you are enjoying this Sunday with your Mother as well or at least showed your appreciation.
