Interview Ready

Vintage Print Wrap Top Diane Von Furstenberg | Black Wool Trousers Theory | Ulltra Black Patent Pumps Steve Madden |  Seahorse Double Ring via Crossroads Trading Co.I know I have been M.I.A. since my last post, but this week was pretty intense!
On Tuesday I attended a Meetup event in SF in honor of  Fashion Tech Week. There was a panel at the Zappos Lab on 121 3rd St consiating of women from the fashion and tech world. It was very inspiring and I enjoyed hearing the words of wisdom being passed on to people that were bloggers, designers, or app developers. It was cool to see so many new apps available that focused on fashion. It was also pretty fun because I got to hang out with fellow blogger Elise from WTFab! She looked super chic in her tall, tan riding boots and hounds tooth print coat and is so fun to hang out with! If anything, it made mingling and networking after the panel a little bit easier. Unfortunately, I got home really late and was too tired to post.
Then, last night I was busy baking cupcakes and decorating them for a send off party for one of my fellow coworkers. Even though I was not done frosting them, I passed out and woke up early to finish decorating them this morning.  When we had our going away party, I felt so sad that a fellow coworker had to leave. Although he is only being relocated to another building, he is actually pretty optimistic with this new opportunity will still be stopping by our office regularly. He was really happy I made chocolate cupcakes which made me feel better about the whole situation.

I feel by this weekend I will be all caught up. I’ve actually cleaned my apartment so that I don’t have any clothes just lying around. The clothes that I need to sell or let go of are in a small, inconspicuous pile, and I have gone ahead and listed a number of things on Poshmark. I still have a long way to go to post everything, but I hope you’ll be able to check it out and buy something if you like it. I know I am supposed to sell cupcakes to pay for my shopping habit, but I want a Magenta KitchenAid Mixer too! lol
Now getting back to this post, today I was going for a professional look. What is more classic than a wrap top with trousers? Maybe a little black dress, but I did feel pretty professional and classic in this at work. I think this is office appropriate. The seahorse ring has been something I’ve always managed to wear with this top. The two items just go together, but even so, this look required minimal jewelry. This outfit could be appropriate for an interview too, except I’d wear a watch and remove the ring. (It would be very uncomfortable for someone shaking my hand if I had it on.)
Hope you are having a great week so far and thanks for reading!

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Cupcakes

Here are the cupcakes I made for a 2 year old’s 2nd Birthday Party. The theme was Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I got the idea from Pinterest to make the head and ears out of Oreos.
Mickey was pretty simple. I used a red liner and baked 12 chocolate cupcakes. I didn’t have the right size of a yellow candy to add to the front of each liner to look like his buttons. They would have fallen off with the trip too. I baked vanilla cupcakes in white liners and placed them in red polka dot liners for Minnie and the layered liners looked like a petticoat under her dress.  For the bow, I drew a template on a sheet of paper and placed waxed paper over it and traced it over with melted red chocolate. I then piped some white frosting all over the bow to look like polka dots.
When I delivered them, the birthday girl was really happy with them. She didn’t want to leave the table! It is the best feeling to see the cupcakes I work on make kids gaze in wonder and amazement. So glad that I am finally getting some side projects for my cupcake business.
I spent all day Saturday making these and today I did nothing. Although I wish I had an extra day off for the weekend to clean more, I am excited to go back to work and spend more time in my new workstation!
Hope you all had a great weekend and thanks for reading!

Black and White

White Princess Coat and Patent Flats Steve Madden | Black Blouse Diane Von Furstenberg | Pants Anchor Blue | Scarf Marc Jacobs | Watch Marc by Marc Jacobs | Bracelets Forever 21
I had a couple of meetings on Thursday and had to walk through campus for one of them. I needed to look professional but still dress warm, and so I choose to wear a simple black outfit and added the white coat to keep it from looking too dark. I was glad I had a chance to wear this coat again before Winter ends. I have this in black and wear it constantly. I feel that the white one is too precious because it was a gift and I would be so upset if it got dirty.
I am pretty excited for this weekend. I am going to be busy all day Saturday making Mickey Mouse-themed cupcakes for a birthday party on Sunday. One of my coworkers hired me to bake them for her daughter’s second birthday. It feels good to have your work and creativity noticed and starting to develop a client base because of it. I have all my supplies ready to go and some ideas to translate that theme, so stay tuned for some photos of them tomorrow. I also have a Facebook page for my cupcake decorating business called Pandycakes, so check it out for more photos and of course to “like” it as well.
On another note, I was relocated to a new cubicle at work. When I was first hired I was placed in other people’s workstations, so to be able to call something my own is pretty exciting.I will finally be able to make it my own space and decorate it to my liking!  I took some “before” photos and will post them on Instagram on Monday after I finish decorating and take an “after” photo too. I’ve never been so excited for Monday before! =D
But until then, enjoy your weekend and thanks for reading!

Poshmark Party

As I mentioned yesterday in my last blog post, I was invited to meet up event hosted by Poshmark in SF. There was free wine and fashion talk, how could I not go?!
But first you may ask, what is Poshmark? Poshmark is an app that allows to take photos of items in your closet that you would like to sell and allows for you to shop other women’s closets! Sort of like Instagram meets eBay, but better! Currently the app is only available on Apple devices, but an Android version is in the works.
I posted a lot of photos on Instagram, but here are a few photos from the event. All 3 of these photos are courtesy of the Poshmark Facebook Page.

The meet up was in SF located at the W Hotel of which I am no stranger. (See post on magazine issue release party here!)Image from Poshmark Facebook Page

Everyone from the Poshmark crew were so nice! It was fun meeting them and seeing how passionate they were about their company! The same is true with their community members. Above I am photographed with Julie and below I am with Tracy and Beth. Image from Poshmark Facebook PageI only took iPhone photos of the event because it can be very difficult to carry your own coat/bag, pass out business cards, drink wine, and use a DSLR camera. Plus this allowed for me to follow other people’s closets right away. I am so used to attending events with someone that I have come to rely on photos being taken by someone else while I network. It was interesting going solo and learning how to mingle. I found it to be really easy, but it might have been because of the wine or because people there were really nice and positive.
I am actually pretty inspired by the event and plan to get a bulk of the clothes I have in a pile to sell listed on my Poshmark account. I have been saying that for awhile, but I want to start building credit so I can shop other people’s closets guilt-free.
By the next meet up event I am hoping to have sold a few items, but we’ll see! Follow me on Poshmark @willbakeforshoe if you have an account so you can stay updated with items I sell and so I can check out your closet too!

Feeling French

Beanie and Leggings Forever 21 |  Black Coat Luii, Striped Sweater Dress Kensie Girl| Black Zeda Boots Madden Girl | Lions and Columns Belt Deena  & OzzyI straightened my hair! Typical for me to do this on a rainy (and windy) day. I opted to wear a knit beanie and everyone at work commented that I looked French. The striped dress and the belt might have also contributed to that effect.
The dress is actually from Crossroad’s pop-up shop at the Chictopia Shop It Like It’s Hot event last month. I am starting to find more and more knits that I like, so I am hoping by next Winter I will have a variety to choose from. For now I will primarily be wearing black and grey sweaters and hopefully i’ll find more colorful knits at Crossroads now that Winter is ending. I cannot wait for Spring so that I can wear more color and prints!
I am pretty stoked because tonight I will be attending a Meetup hosted by the Poshmark team in SF! It is an invite-only event to fellow Poshmark sellers in the Bay Area. Although I have been really slow to post items for sale in my Poshmark closet, I am excited to meet fellow fashionistas and possibly other local fashion bloggers. I’ll be posting pictures on Instagram later so don’t forget to follow me @willbakeforshoes to stay updated on the event!
Thanks for reading!

Leather and Spikes

Jacket Members Only |  Grey Sweater August Silk | Headband, Spike Bracelet and Jeans Forever 21 | Black Scarf Neiman Marcus x Target Marc Jacobs | Sneaker Wedges Zigi Soho | Camera Bag THEIT
Happy President’s Day!
This weekend I was really caught up spending time with my family in Salinas. I had purchased tickets to see George Lopez for my brother as a Secret Santa gift and the show was on Sunday. I volunteered to baby-sit so he and his wife could go.
This outfit is not from the weekend, but I did not have a chance to take photos of myself. I combined a simple spike bracelet with my leather jacket.  I forgot to get a close-up shot of my headband, but it is meant to look like grayish diamonds to match my sweater. Along with this outfit, I wore my favorite (and only) sneaker wedges. I love how tall these shoes make me and how comfortable they are! I can be in these all day! I must definitely buy more in different colors. ðŸ˜‰
Overall, it is a great casual outfit and works as my weekend post. I am so glad I had Monday off to catch up with some errands and purchase supplies to decorate cupcakes for a birthday party this weekend! It is Mickey Mouse themed, so stay tuned for those photos early next week.
Also, if you recall, I was on the hunt for a garment rack that could house the clothes overflowing from my closet. I finally found the perfect one at Ikea! It was really easy to assemble, compact, has wheels, and is pretty sturdy. Very excited to share a picture soon! (Note to self, never go shopping at Ikea on Presidents Day unless you like standing in line, or if the sales are unbelievable!)
Hope you had a great three day weekend and thanks for reading!Brandy| BLOGLOVIN | FACEBOOK |  INSTAGRAM |TUMBLR | TWITTER |
