Chandelier Feather Earrings

Such a specific blog post title, I know, but the earrings pretty much inspired the rest of my outfit for today. All the items I have worn before except for the earrings, and a big reason is because I actually struggled pairing them with what was in my closet. These are not really bohemian and don’t feel like everyday earrings, so I love the effect they have when paired with the ponytail and shades of grey.
This is one of my favorite outfits so far, and it made me sad to have to change for my workout at the pool. I am proud to say I jumped in and swam 1000 yards (40 times up and down) without taking any breaks. I feel so proud of myself! So far I’ve gone 3 times this week, but today’s workout felt so satisfying! I believe I swam 1400 yards total, so I know since Monday I will keep improving.

Fendi Blazer

Afterwards I get ready for the gym and yesterday I got back and went out for dinner. No time left to post because I came home afterwards and passed out. I slept so well, and that was probably because working out actually takes a lot out of me.

I am really happy with this yellow blazer. First of all it is Fendi, and it clearly needed to come home with me. Once again I snagged an amazing find from a Goodwill, and for only $7.99! Say what?! To top it off, dry cleaning was another $7.50, so a total of about $15 to add some serious color to my outfit. I’ve worn the other pieces in my outfit before, so I am really stretching my dollars.
Straight hair adds to the polished look, which was necessary for a big meeting with my supervisor. I’d say this would be great to wear to a job interview, especially because the bright yellow blazer would stand out amongst black and navy suits.

Photos are a little off because I attempted to take them myself with my tripod. The scissor necklace is pretty awesome and I love that it was a gift from my sister.

Ordered this coat from alloy.com and I love it! What would you wear with this type of coat?

Polished in a Blazer

Rain in June? How strange!
While the weather was less than ideal for a dress, I really wanted to wear this blazer and dress combination. The look is almost effortless, and these pieces really mean a lot to me.
The blazer is part of a suit my mom gave, and that I just got altered to fit me. The dress I wore before for my graduation and the shoes were my first pair of Louboutins (which I bought for my 21st birthday). The belt is just another example of the great little treasures one can find thrifting (or on a Crossroads mannequin). I think some outfits you just know work. I see this not only at work but out at night with the girls or on a date, just by adding a cute clutch!
It is important to feel good in your clothes, and to keep that up I started swimming on campus. It is hard to resist since I get a free trial period of 30 days. I want to feel great in everything I wear, especially them skinny jeans taunting me in my closet. For the most part, I believe women, and men should dress to accentuate their assets. But it is always good to be healthy since a hot bod goes with everything!

Staff Meeting

This morning I handled the slideshow presentations during the all staff meeting, and despite my slight fear of public speaking and being in front of a crowd, I think I did a good job of looking comfortable since I am on good terms with a majority of the staff members. I would have worn a dress to the meeting, but I also had to help out with the filming of our second lab safety video.

It was so much fun helping out with writing the script and actually participating with the filming. It was a nice change of pace from what I usually do during the day, and it makes me want to really get into a field where I can be creative and be excited about what I am working on.

I think I am also doing a better job with my blog, but I am also unsure at times what niche I am in. On the one hand I have my own personal style with stuff that I thrifted and love because I found them after lots of digging. On the other hand some of the items I own are not always budget friendly (but that is in part because I had a shopping problem way back in the day). Although I try to be wise with how I spend my money, like thrifting and reinventing how I wear something, I still will splurge on some designer shoes or bags (saving up for a Marc Jacobs bag at the moment).

I don’t know where I am headed, but I know I am having fun at the moment and hope that more people will see that. Fashion is supposed to be fun after all.
