Graduation Part 2

It has been a busy weekend, and to top it off my memory is full on my laptop so I have not been able to transfer my photos from yesterday and today yet. However I will add some photos of my graduation I took on my phone to keep the ball moving for me. Hopefully by Tuesday I will be caught up since I have my cake decorating class tomorrow!
Another day full of inspirational speeches. Most of my speakers discussed an English major’s least favorite question, “What are you going to do with that?”
Surprisingly there are a lot of fields or jobs one can use an English degree in (hurray), but it does not easily translate into reading books all day (darn).
Everyone has to figure out their own answer, and I am still searching for mine. I hope it comes to me soon so that when anyone asks what I will do with my degree, I’ll have my answer.

Graduation Part 1

Once again I walked the line for Berkeley’s General Commencement. While I did technically finish up in the Fall, I felt I was closer to the Class of 2012.
It was an interesting ceremony, and I did not stay until the end of the ceremony (the name calling took 2 hours long), but I liked a lot of what our guest speaker Dr. Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, said.
The most important lesson I took away from his speech was learning to say “Yes.” Being optimistic and willing to try new things and meet new people. That and what type of future do you dream for the world around you.
I personally dream of an end to poverty, which might sound weird when all I blog about is designer clothes I thrift and seem to have an endless amount of. While at times I feel I am a little materialistic, I am always thankful for what I have gained in my life. I was lucky to be born into a hard-working family, meet great friends, and be able to earn the things I buy.
I am most thankful to have been able to attend the college of my dreams, and while I am uncertain about my future, I can still control what I do, and I hope I can do something that will be meaningful to me as well as for other people.

Burberry Plaid Skirt

Navy School Boy Blazer and White Sweater Top Forever 21 | Red Plaid Mini Skirt Burberry | White Leather Cross Body Bag Coach | White Heaven Flats Steve Madden
Schoolgirl look! I tried to aim for something more like Gossip Girl or like the Korean Drama Boys Over Flowers and the really cool private school uniforms they had.
I found this skirt by chance at my favorite Crossroads. It was my first time finding Burberry at a used clothing store. It was too cute to pass up, and I will need it once I can afford my camel Burberry trench!
Anyways, my cupcakes were a hit at work during our surprise good-bye party for Tiana, so it was worth the effort I put into them.
We also headed out for Happy Hour afterwards, and we had a great time at Triple Rock. I will miss my fellow coworker, but I know we will see each other soon someday.

Anchor

Cardigan Diane Von Furstenberg | Dress Twelve by Twelve | Necklace Forever 21 | Flats Steve MaddenAnchor’s away! Once again I bring out my oversized vintage DVF cardigan and paired it with a dress and necklace from Forever 21. I am just missing my sailor hat, but then again that would be going overboard, no pun intended, on the nautical trend.
It’s funny, but I did not think this dress flattered me anymore, and it is because I am not a fan of dresses, or tops, with a high neck since I feel it will make me look shorter. It is nice to be proven wrong. This dress is really fun and I like how it works with my other items.

I think this look is more of a weekend dress for visiting the wharf or walking down a pier with an ice cream cone in hand. Maybe even to be on a boat. Why not go a little more nautical with it? What’s your take on the nautical trend?

DVF + Denim

Jean Jacket Heritage 1981 | Wrap Dress Diane Von Furstenberg | White Crossbody Bag Coach | Flats Christian Louboutin | Sunglasses Tory Burch | Necklace Forever 21Lately I have been wearing these Tory Burch sunglasses a lot, and it is primarily because it has been sunny, and because they are so versatile. I usually purchase black shades, but I might need to purchase so more brown ones!
I had my New Employee Orientation today, despite no longer being a new employee, and I learned a lot about benefits and retirement. It felt almost too grown up for me. I can’t believe sometimes that I am an “adult” and have to think about the future in that way. It is finals week on campus, and I feel like my mind should be more focused on that and as if I should be studying for a test or writing a paper. I’m glad I don’t have to do anything like that, but I know I should be doing something productive like job hunting or working on my resume. That and working on my photography and Adobe skills. I wish there was more time in the day, butI just need to stop getting addicted to shows on TV.
Anyways, thought this looks worked for the super nice weather we had today. It’s finally beginning to feel like Spring decided to stay!

Despite it being the weekend, I feel like I did not rest up enough in order to better handle the coming work week. I did have fun and was able to relax, but maybe because of all this sun I am ok with lying down and sleeping somewhere.
I did have fun getting dressed today, and I like the mixture of high and low end pieces. My favorite outfits usually consist of a variety of brands and designers in one look because it is more unique and you would not have to worry about running into someone else wearing the exact same thing. I am a huge fan of this top and is the second time it is featured. I would have repeated this top sooner had the weather been nicer. I love the mix of gold and white, and if I could, I would wear whites or white and gold all the time.
